The role of Hotel Development Manager at Vision Hospitality Group is a pivotal position responsible for supporting the company’s mission and goals through managing new hotel asset development efficiently and with high quality. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Design and Construction, the Development Manager collaborates closely with teams across development, finance, asset management, food and beverage, and hotel operations to ensure all projects progress smoothly from conception through opening. This position requires hands-on involvement in activities such as due diligence, entitlement acquisition, budget forecasting, designer and contractor selection and oversight, and vendor management. The manager is expected to maintain high standards, promote the company’s core values, and represent Vision Hospitality Group accurately within the community and amongst contractors and partners.

The Development Manager must have exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining a professional and detail-oriented approach. Essential responsibilities include budget management, timely and accurate reporting, attending pivotal meetings, and coordinating the complex logistics involved in construction and hotel openings. The position is based at the corporate headquarters in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with occasional travel for site visits and meetings.

The Hotel Development Manager will ensure that each project aligns with hotel brand standards and operational goals, working diligently with brand managers and internal teams to meet all specifications and timelines. They will also coordinate with procurement agencies for order fulfillment and assist in the seamless closeout and handoff of projects to hotel operations. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality project management including renovations and new construction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Working knowledge of construction and mechanical systems used in hospitality projects
  • Mastery of English grammar and spelling with business correspondence skills
  • Effective communication skills in person, virtual meetings, and phone
  • Highly organized and honest team player
  • Ability to manage multitasking and meet multiple deadlines effectively
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and meetings
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, kneel, push, stretch, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in office and construction environments
  • Near and far vision capabilities
  • Finger dexterity for equipment operation
  • Clear voice for communication
  • Ability to write and regularly visit property sites

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality project management including renovations and new construction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Working knowledge of major construction systems such as Cast in Place, Post Tensioned, Block and Plank, Light Gauge Steel, Timber, DOAS, PTAC, VTAC, and VRF systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present information effectively to upper management
  • Ability to work with accounting and construction mathematical concepts and interpret statistical models
  • Ability to define and resolve problems
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Honest team player with an outgoing and hands-on approach
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation

Job Duties

  • Generate financial and investor reports on a timely basis
  • Create, maintain, and improve existing budgets and reports
  • Assist the Vice President of Design and Construction with budgeting, entitlements, project design, and development tasks
  • Assist and coordinate with other Development Managers in a team approach to project management
  • Maintain effective working relationships that promote a positive environment
  • Maintain Vision’s reputation by treating vendors, contractors, and others with respect and integrity
  • Manage budget and schedule adherence, quality control, and accurate reporting for assigned development projects
  • Attend Design, Programming, OAC, Development Team, and brand meetings
  • Establish relationships with brand managers and understand brand standards
  • Monitor contractor schedules, submittals, RFIs, PCOs, and contractual scopes
  • Coordinate all Ordering, Specifications, and Equipment (OSE) and Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FFE) procurement and hotel opening operations
  • Complete project closeout and coordinate opening operations with hotel staff
