Thompson Dallas is a distinguished luxury hotel situated in the heart of downtown Dallas, adjacent to the Akard Street stop of the DART train. This hotel is a part of The National, renowned as Dallas' newest urban luxury mixed-use project, featuring 219 rooms with 52 suites and an array of full-service dining and drink venues. The position of Host/Hostess offered here is a pivotal role within our Food & Beverage team, premised upon offering unsurpassed hospitality and serving as the gracious face of the restaurant. This position requires a professional demeanor paired with a warm and outgoing personality, ensuring that every guest’s first impression is both welcoming and memorable. The candidate will be responsible for greeting guests upon arrival and managing their seating with efficiency and grace, an essential component of providing excellent customer service. As this role operates within an upscale and luxury environment, the successful applicant will be expected to perform with utmost hospitality standards, anticipate the needs of guests proactively, and maintain a consistently positive and engaging attitude. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a similar hospitality or hosting role preferred
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • strong organizational skills
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods
  • must be punctual and reliable
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • upscale beverage programming experience preferred
  • deep cocktail knowledge beyond the basics
  • curation of complicated cocktail knowledge
  • refined verbal communication skills
  • must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
  • must have availability including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • greet guests promptly and courteously as they enter the restaurant
  • manage the seating arrangements ensuring maximum efficiency and guest comfort
  • coordinate with restaurant staff to communicate guest arrivals and special requests
  • maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host station and front entrance
  • respond gracefully to guest inquiries and provide information about the restaurant’s offerings
  • assist in managing wait lists and reservations during busy periods
  • uphold high standards of hospitality and professionalism to enhance guest experience
