Job Description

Marcel Restaurant is situated in the iconic Breuer building on Madison Avenue in New York City, offering a unique blend of cuisine, art, and design. Designed in partnership with Sotheby’s and crafted by Roman and Williams, this luxurious dining establishment is a destination for sophisticated patrons who appreciate both fine dining and a culturally rich atmosphere. The restaurant pays homage to the culinary traditions of French cuisine while infusing modern New York sensibilities and emphasizing seasonality and locally sourced ingredients. Led by Chef-Partner Marie-Aude Rose and Executive Chef Juan Moncalvo, Marcel provides a refined continental menu that highlights classical technique, artistic presentation, and exceptional quality. The restaurant is also known for its celebrated pâtisserie program featuring handcrafted viennoiserie, madeleines, tarts, and entremets. The setting includes a striking dining room with sculptural design, an open kitchen, a garden terrace, museum-quality art, and an exclusive wine program sourced from Sotheby’s cellar, making it a hotspot for culinary excellence and vibrant social experiences.

We are currently seeking a full-time Host/Hostess to join our esteemed team at Marcel. This position offers hourly pay ranging from $25.00 to $30.00 and requires prior experience in upscale dining environments. The Host/Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests, responsible for welcoming and seating patrons in a warm and efficient manner, setting the stage for the exceptional dining experience Marcel is known for. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor under pressure, and the ability to maintain a collaborative and positive environment for guests and teammates alike. The host or hostess will also handle customer service situations, supervise dining room operations to ensure smooth service flow, and assist with service duties as necessary. At Marcel, you will have the opportunity to learn from culinary leaders and work in a setting that cultivates growth, precision, intensity, and passion—qualities intrinsic to the authentic French kitchen mentality. This position requires open availability as days and hours may vary depending on the restaurant’s needs. Becoming part of Marcel means contributing to a culinary destination of excellence where every role supports the restaurant's mission of outstanding quality and guest satisfaction.
