The Host Cashier role at Bob Evans is a vital position where the individual is the first point of contact with guests, welcoming them warmly and setting the tone for a positive dining experience. This position demands excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic restaurant environment. The Host Cashier will greet and escort guests to tables, manage guest wait times, communicate effectively with guests regarding wait times and promotions, maintain cleanliness in lobby and retail areas, and handle cash and credit transactions accurately. Job Requirements
- 0-2 years related experience
- Strong knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a restaurant
- Ability to accurately handle cash and credit transactions
- Ability to stand for entire shifts and walk for long periods
- Ability to push, lift, carry and transfer up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate verbally with others
- Ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
- Ability to access all areas of the restaurant including selling floor, stock area and register area
- Must follow safe food and beverage handling procedures
- Must be dependable and demonstrate exceptional teamwork skills
Job Qualifications
- Excellent guest service skills and experience
- Ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise
- Detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to prioritize, good organizational skills
- Must have ability to accurately handle money, make change, process credit card transactions and have strong menu knowledge
- Computer skills (POS system)

- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Job Duties
- Greet guest in a friendly, warm, and welcoming manner and escort guests to tables
- Monitors guests needs and the flow of the restaurant and seats guests accordingly
- Delivers the appropriate number of menus, kid packs if needed when seating guests
- Performs restroom checks, answers phone, keeps lobby, bakery and retail areas clean of debris, and keeping the general work area stocked and cleaned
- Practices safe food and beverage handling
- Communicates and interacts with guests, can handle crowds, and put guests at ease while they wait for their table or carryout order
- Shows guests you care and ask them about their dining experience
- Effectively handles guest complaints and involves manager at appropriate time
- Handles cash and credit transactions
- accurately accounts for all receivables including cash, credit cards, and gift cards
- Assist in marketing, promotional services and situational selling, such as communicating new promotions, products, or marketing information to guest
- Clears, sanitizes, and sets tables as needed
- Manage guests wait times by working with managers to quote accurate wait times
- May be asked to assist in other job categories as well
- All other duties as assigned
