Job Description

Black Bear Diner is a well-known restaurant franchise that prides itself on delivering a warm, friendly, and memorable dining experience to its guests. With roots deeply embedded in American comfort food traditions, Black Bear Diner has become a popular destination for families, friends, and individuals seeking hearty meals served in a nostalgic, rustic environment. The diner is celebrated for its generous portions, classic dishes, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a staple in the communities it serves. This particular job opportunity is offered by a Black Bear Diner franchisee located in Washington, Utah, at 965 N Hoodoo Way. It's important to note that applicants are applying to the franchisee, not Black Bear Diner Corporate or any of its affiliates. Franchisees operate as independent business owners who manage their own wage and benefit programs, which can vary. This position is part-time, catering to individuals aiming to join a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.

The role available is for an AM Host/Cashier, integral to the smooth operation of the diner’s morning shift. This position involves both greeting and seating guests and handling cashier responsibilities, making it versatile and dynamic. The AM Host/Cashier plays a key role in creating a positive first impression for patrons by providing attentive, cheerful service from the moment guests enter the diner. Responsibilities include warmly welcoming guests, managing seating arrangements according to guest preferences and operational flow, and addressing any special requests. When the diner is busy, the host efficiently manages the waitlist, providing accurate waiting times and promptly seating parties as tables become available.

In addition to guest reception, the AM Host/Cashier is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in key areas including the entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms. They support servers by helping maintain stocked service stations and assist with bussing tables — clearing and resetting them quickly to enhance turnover efficiency. The role also includes using the restaurant's point-of-sale system to enter take-out orders and process guest payments accurately and efficiently. This dual responsibility demands that the candidate possesses both excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage transactions swiftly without sacrificing friendly engagement.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a beloved local dining establishment with a strong community presence. Working as an AM Host/Cashier at Black Bear Diner means not only serving food but also contributing to a welcoming environment that encourages repeat visits. The role is suited to individuals who thrive in a team-based, customer-focused setting and who enjoy multitasking in a lively atmosphere. Earning tips along with wage compensation, this position rewards those who provide attentive and enthusiastic service.

Overall, this part-time role at Black Bear Diner’s Washington, Utah franchise is perfect for someone who enjoys interacting with guests, thrives in a dynamic workplace, and wants to be part of a team dedicated to exceptional customer service. The employment terms, including wage and benefits, are set by the franchisee and may differ from other locations. Prospective employees should be prepared to engage fully in all aspects of hosting and cashiering duties and contribute positively to the diner’s mission of excellent guest experiences.
