Job Description
Black Bear Diner is a popular restaurant franchise known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and hearty American comfort food. The diner prides itself on delivering excellent customer service and a memorable dining experience to all guests. The specific opportunity discussed here is with a franchisee of Black Bear Diner located at 1245 S Main St, Saint George, UT 84770. It's important to note that this position is with the franchisee only, not Black Bear Diner Corporate or any of its affiliates. Franchisees operate as independent business owners and are responsible for setting their own wage and benefit programs, which can vary between locations. This role is part-time and is ideal for individuals seeking flexible employment often suitable for students, parents, or those looking to supplement their income.
The role being offered is for an AM Host/Cashier, a critical position in maintaining the diner’s friendly and efficient atmosphere. As an AM Host/Cashier, the employee will be the first point of contact for guests arriving at the diner, greeting them warmly and seat them efficiently to ensure smooth traffic flow within the restaurant. This involves accommodating special seating requests and balancing the customer flow across service stations. The host also handles waiting lists when immediate seating is unavailable, communicating wait times to guests and notifying them when their table is ready.
Beyond seating, the AM Host/Cashier assists with maintaining cleanliness around the diner, including the entrance, lobby, dining room, and restrooms, as well as resetting tables swiftly after guests leave to prepare for the next party. They support servers by transporting bus tubs filled with dirty dishes when necessary and helping stock service stations. Another key responsibility is managing take-out orders, which includes taking food and beverage requests, entering these orders accurately into the POS system, and processing guest payments efficiently to close out checks. Throughout all interactions, the host aims to create a positive and friendly experience, thanking guests for visiting and inviting them back, thus encouraging repeat business.
This job requires a team-oriented mindset, flexibility to perform side work assigned at the beginning and end of shifts, and the willingness to fill in wherever needed to ensure restaurant operations run smoothly under the guidance of the restaurant manager or supervisor. Working as an AM Host/Cashier at this Black Bear Diner franchise offers a dynamic and engaging environment for those who enjoy customer interaction and working as part of a supportive team. The position’s earning potential is enhanced by cash tips, providing additional income on top of the base wage. Overall, this role is vital to delivering the excellent service and welcoming atmosphere that Black Bear Diner guests have come to expect.
