As a Host (Bell/Door Person) at The Fifth Avenue Hotel, you serve as the very first and last impression for guests, playing a critical role in shaping their overall stay. This position is not just about greeting guests but also about delivering a seamless and polished experience from the moment they arrive until they depart. The Host is responsible for warmly welcoming guests with genuine hospitality and professionalism, assisting with luggage and transportation needs, and ensuring a smooth and memorable arrival and departure process. This role demands a service-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and anticipatory service to elevate the guest experience.

The Host will handle a variety of tasks, including greeting guests warmly as they enter, assisting with luggage efficiently and carefully, coordinating transportation or valet services, and providing useful information about the hotel’s amenities and services. They are also expected to manage luggage tagging, storing, and retrieval securely and escort guests to the reception desk with care. Beyond luggage and transportation support, the Host provides thoughtful, anticipatory service by engaging with guests proactively, addressing special requests, and assisting with room changes when needed. This key role helps maintain the high standards and polished image that guests associate with The Fifth Avenue Hotel.

Additionally, the Host supports operational needs by ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the guest entrance and luggage storage areas, stocking supplies, and contributing to a smooth workflow. The Host collaborates closely with Front Office and Guest Services teams to maintain seamless communication and service excellence, contributing valuable input on guest feedback and satisfaction.

Physical demands include extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and the ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous customer service experience required

Job Duties

  • Warmly greet guests at the hotel entrance with genuine hospitality and professionalism
  • assist guests with arrival and departure logistics ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
  • coordinate transportation and support valet or car service arrangements as needed
  • load unload and transport luggage with care and efficiency
  • tag store and retrieve luggage accurately and securely
  • escort guests to reception desk ensuring comfort and ease upon arrival
  • provide thoughtful overview of hotel amenities and services
  • anticipate guest needs and offer assistance proactively
  • deliver packages amenities and requested items to guest rooms promptly and discreetly
  • assist with room changes and special requests with attention to detail
  • maintain organization and cleanliness of guest entrance and luggage storage areas
  • stock and support operational needs when necessary
  • maintain familiarity with local attractions transportation options and neighborhood highlights
  • keep informational materials current and readily available for guests
  • partner closely with Front Office and Guest Services teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • maintain awareness of guest feedback and satisfaction metrics
