Job Description

IHOP, established in 1958, is a renowned dining establishment celebrated for bringing people together over breakfast and a wide array of delicious meals throughout the day. As a staple in the restaurant industry, IHOP prides itself on creating memorable experiences for guests, whether they are taking a study break, enjoying a meal before or after sporting events, or simply connecting with friends and family. The brand is well-known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to exceptional customer service, which is symbolized by the smile incorporated into its logo. This reflects the company’s culture of warmth, friendliness, and genuine care for every guest.

The Host or Hostess role at IHOP is a vital position that plays a significant part in maintaining the welcoming environment the restaurant is famous for. This role involves greeting guests with a cheerful and courteous attitude, seating them promptly, and ensuring their dining experience begins on a positive note. The Host or Hostess acts as the first point of contact for guests, thus setting the tone for the entire meal. Responsibilities include managing the waitlist efficiently during busy times, accommodating special needs such as boosters, highchairs, and assisting guests with disabilities, and providing menu recommendations and additional information to enhance customer satisfaction.

In addition to guest interaction, the Host or Hostess is tasked with processing To-Go and Delivery orders by taking, entering, and packaging them accurately. This position requires good communication skills to effectively relay order details to kitchen staff and assist with the smooth operation of the restaurant. The Host or Hostess is also responsible for handling phone inquiries and ensuring a seamless flow of service.

Physical demands of the role include standing for up to 8 hours, lifting weights between 25 to 50 pounds, and performing motions such as pushing, pulling, stretching, and continuous bilateral use of fingers and wrists. These requirements highlight the need for physical stamina and dexterity.

IHOP offers competitive pay at $12.00 per hour, with both full-time and part-time employment opportunities available. The position does not require formal education, making it accessible to a wide range of applicants. The company fosters a supportive work environment with extensive training, flexible hours, and real advancement opportunities, enabling team members to grow and succeed within the organization.

Overall, the Host or Hostess position at IHOP is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and customer-focused atmosphere. The role requires a positive attitude, excellent multitasking abilities, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences. This job offers the opportunity to be part of a longstanding and respected brand that values smiles and meaningful connections between people.
