Job Description
Union Joints is a renowned culinary collective dedicated to crafting unique dining experiences through a network of independent, original restaurants. With a presence spanning nearly three decades, Union Joints has built a strong reputation for fostering inclusive, caring environments that prioritize staff and guest experience alike. The organization specializes in repurposing iconic neighborhood spaces, infusing them with a distinctive charm and a commitment to community. Their portfolio boasts an impressive chain of local favorites such as the Clarkston Union, Union General, Vinsetta Garage, and the Fenton Fire Hall, among others. Each venue reflects a passion for authentic, casual dining paired with vibrant atmospheres that celebrate their unique locales. Now, Union Joints is expanding its footprint in Birmingham, Michigan’s thriving Rail District. The company is proud to announce the launch of Lincoln Yard and Little Yard, two eclectic dining spots housed in the historic former school bus garage on Lincoln. This neighborhood joint epitomizes Union Joints' commitment to repurposing spaces and creating dynamic culinary experiences. The establishment's ambiance embraces a punchy casual dining ethos designed to engage patrons with its unique decor and spirited community vibe.
This exciting campus is more than just a place to eat; it is a living testament to the brand’s signature approach to hospitality — inclusive, fun, and driven by genuine care. The new venues seek to infuse the Rail District with energy, inviting locals and visitors to enjoy quality food, drinks, and fellowship.
As part of this growth, Union Joints is assembling a one-of-a-kind team to bring these venues to life. Hiring staff with a passion for hospitality and an eagerness to contribute to a vibrant, collaborative environment is key. The company cherishes a culture that is anything but ordinary, welcoming individuals who are enthusiastic, customer-focused, and ready to dive into a fast-paced, creative dining atmosphere. The employment opportunity at Lincoln Yard and Little Yard is available with competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package—including medical and supplemental insurance, on-demand pay, referral bonuses, 401(k) plans, and paid time off—for team members committed to excellence and service.
The Host position at Lincoln Yard and Little Yard plays a vital role as the friendly face that guests encounter first. This role demands warm, immediate greetings and professional seating of guests, ensuring that the dining experience starts on a positive note. Hosts are trained to maintain flow and efficiency by managing waitlists, seating plans, and timely communication with patrons. Their role extends beyond greeting; it involves maintaining an inviting, organized host station, addressing guest inquiries about the menu or service, and upholding the overall ambience through diligent cleanliness and attentiveness. Hosting also calls for excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a bustling dining environment.
Physically, this position involves standing continuously, periodically lifting items, and navigating a moderately noisy setting while managing guest interactions throughout each shift. Union Joints values safety and inclusivity within its workforce and is committed to accommodating individuals who may require them. This role epitomizes the spirit of Union Joints — energetic, attentive, and deeply committed to enhancing the communal dining experience in Birmingham’s evolving Rail District.
