Job Description

Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) is a renowned hospitality company founded by the celebrated restaurateur Danny Meyer. Known for its revolutionary approach to hospitality, USHG has earned accolades for its exceptional dining experiences and a people-first culture that prioritizes employees and guests alike. With a history rooted in creating outstanding environments for both talent and clientele, USHG is set to expand its award-winning hospitality philosophy to Downtown Detroit in early 2026. The new location will be situated at Hudson's Detroit on Woodward Avenue, placing it in the center of the city's vibrant Central Business District. This location provides an unmatched backdrop of world-class dining, shopping, public spaces, art, and culture, all within walking distance of major sports venues and the picturesque Detroit Riverfront. Joining USHG means becoming a part of a dynamic destination that embraces the cultural, communal, and experiential essence of Detroit, bringing the signature excellence of USHG's hospitality to the city and contributing to the evolving landscape of Detroit's dining scene.

The role of the Host at USHG is an essential position within the Service team, serving as the first point of contact and making a lasting impression on every guest and visitor at the restaurant. The Host embodies the warmth and inclusivity of USHG's philosophy of Enlightened Hospitality, which centers on creating welcoming environments and fostering personal connections. The Host works closely with the Maître D’ to manage and coordinate seating arrangements efficiently, ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests from arrival through the entire service. This role demands a combination of interpersonal skills, operational knowledge, and a passion for hospitality, as the Host must answer guest inquiries, provide accurate wait times, and serve as a liaison between guests and staff to maintain clear communication and high standards. The position encourages growth and learning, inviting individuals who are enthusiastic about delivering exceptional guest experiences and contributing to a collaborative team culture. USHG offers competitive pay, access to earnings through a digital wallet for next-day payouts, comprehensive health coverage—including medical, dental, and vision insurance—and generous paid time off to promote a healthy work-life balance. Additional benefits include a matched 401(k) plan, life insurance, employee assistance programs, dining discounts, pre-tax commuter benefits, and opportunities for professional development and mentorship within a community passionate about hospitality. This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking a meaningful career in hospitality, wanting to thrive in a supportive and innovative environment while helping to shape the future of a new landmark destination in Detroit.
