The company partners with hospitals across the United States to provide high-quality, comprehensive medical care, leveraging a team of expert clinicians committed to excellence, collaboration, and compassionate service. Sound Physicians prioritizes a supportive work environment that fosters professional growth, leadership opportunities, and a strong sense of community for its medical teams. As part of this commitment, the organization offers robust resources including licensing and credentialing support, as well as visa sponsorship for international candidates. This ensures a diverse and talented workforce that meets the evolving needs of healthcare providers and the communities they serve. The role is based at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington, a city known for its scenic beauty and vibrant cultural life. Bellingham offers residents a unique lifestyle with access to outdoor recreational activities in the nearby North Cascades and San Juan Islands, combined with a welcoming, close-knit community atmosphere that makes it an appealing place to live and work.

We are currently seeking a Medical Director, Hospital Medicine to join our dedicated team in Bellingham. This position is designed for experienced physicians who are passionate about leading clinical teams and advancing hospital medicine initiatives. The Medical Director will oversee a local team consisting of 25 physicians and 7 advanced practice providers, working alongside associate medical directors, clinical performance nurses, program managers, and coordinators. The role balances clinical care responsibilities with administrative leadership, providing the opportunity to have a significant impact on patient care delivery and program development.

This position does not require code or procedure responsibilities, as the hospital features a closed ICU with 24/7 intensivist support during the day. The Medical Director will provide clinical oversight and build strong collaborative relationships with hospital leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. The role offers a competitive annual salary exceeding $385,000 plus incentives, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401k with matching contributions, paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage, annual CME allowance, and relocation assistance.

The ideal candidate will have a background in internal medicine or family medicine, with a minimum of two years of formal hospital-based leadership experience. Sound Physicians proudly sponsors H1B visas and supports candidates throughout the visa and licensing process with expert internal specialists, covering all required filing fees and services. This is an in-person position located at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, offering a unique opportunity to join a skilled and diverse medical team committed to excellence in hospital medicine within a dynamic community setting.
