Job Description

DIG is a renowned restaurant recognized for its commitment to scratch-based kitchens that emphasize fresh, real, and good food. Operating with deep respect for culinary traditions, DIG prides itself on running exceptional restaurant operations that thrive on passion, authenticity, and a strong sense of community. This establishment doesn’t just serve food; it fosters an environment where culinary arts blossom, and individuals can develop professionally in a fast-paced, dynamic setting. DIG’s mission extends beyond simply providing meals—it aims to rebuild the food system and create a culturally inclusive community where education, purpose, and taste are paramount. Their kitchen culture is designed to cultivate and empower team members by providing educational opportunities, with a focus on leadership development and culinary skill enhancement. The company believes that every member of their team, regardless of their role, plays a crucial part in delivering memorable dining experiences to their guests. This firm commitment to quality is underpinned by strict adherence to food safety standards and an inclusive workplace that values diversity and equal opportunity.

The role of Porter (Dishwasher) at DIG presents a fantastic opportunity for individuals enthusiastic about food and eager to grow within the culinary and restaurant industry. This position offers a competitive hourly wage starting between $17.95 and $18.50, supplemented by an additional $2 to $3 per hour in tips, alongside other comprehensive benefits. Porters at DIG are integral to the kitchen’s smooth operation as they ensure all dishes, pots, and kitchen equipment are cleaned thoroughly, maintaining the highest levels of sanitation and organization. The role is more than just washing dishes; it involves support across various kitchen stations, helping to maintain workstations and stock supplies. It's a physically active job that requires the ability to multitask and remain agile in a bustling environment.

Moreover, DIG encourages its porters to gain exposure to different culinary stations such as garde manger, grill, roast, market line, and prep. This exposure not only diversifies their skill set but also prepares them for potential advancement within the brigade. The company’s culture supports learning and professional growth, making this position ideal for those who value a team-oriented environment and want to deepen their culinary knowledge and leadership abilities. Being part of DIG means going home every day fulfilled by knowing your work contributes to a greater mission to transform the food system, emphasizing sustainability, community, and quality.

This role demands a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail to meet the restaurant's operational and health standards. DIG also places a high value on workplace maturity and adherence to anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, ensuring that all team members operate in a respectful and supportive environment. Flexible scheduling options are available for part-time and full-time shifts, making it convenient for a range of applicants. The company also offers unique perks including paid time off, a 401K program, parental leave, and complimentary lunch to support employee satisfaction and well-being. DIG is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where female, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and diverse candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, honoring diversity as a vital strength within their team.
