Job Description
The Oncology Institute (TOI), founded in 2007 and publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker TOI, is a premier community-based oncology network dedicated to advancing cancer care by delivering highly specialized, value-based treatments directly within local communities. Serving approximately 1.9 million patients across five states, TOI offers comprehensive oncology services including clinical trials, transfusions, and care delivery models that align with the highest industry standards traditionally seen only in advanced healthcare institutions. With over 180 employed and affiliate clinicians and more than 100 clinic locations, TOI prioritizes accessibility and excels in providing evidence-based cancer care to diverse populations in need. The Oncology Institute combines clinical excellence with innovative practices to foster improved patient outcomes and physician satisfaction in a collaborative, integrated healthcare environment.
TOI is currently seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Hematology and Oncology Physician to join their Riverside, California practice. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered cancer care within a supportive, community-based setting. Physicians at TOI benefit from a strong, established referral network accompanied by a multidisciplinary team including advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and medical assistants designed to enable physicians to practice at the top of their license while minimizing administrative burdens. The position offers competitive, predictable compensation with a base salary starting at $500,000 plus incentive opportunities, with total compensation potential exceeding $650,000 for established physicians.
The Oncology Institute promotes a sustainable and efficient care model with technology-enabled workflows, integrated tumor boards, on-site infusion services, and a shared call structure that requires coverage every four weekends. Career growth and leadership opportunities abound, including pathways to medical director and clinical leadership roles, participation in clinical trials, research initiatives, and principal investigator roles. In addition, physicians benefit from a $100,000 guaranteed sign-on bonus, CME support, comprehensive insurance coverage, malpractice protection, paid time off, relocation assistance, student loan repayment, and full coverage of licensing and renewal fees.
Practicing in Riverside offers the added benefits of working in a thriving community with a growing population and strong patient demand, supported by reputable healthcare networks and hospitals that foster interdisciplinary collaboration and referral opportunities. The area boasts a more affordable cost of living compared to neighboring coastal cities such as Los Angeles, paired with abundant outdoor recreational opportunities and a high quality of life. TOI’s mission-driven, physician-led environment is focused on compassionate, innovative, and accessible cancer care, making it an attractive setting for oncologists who desire a balanced professional and personal lifestyle in a rapidly expanding network built for long-term stability and growth.
Physicians interested in joining this forward-thinking organization are encouraged to engage with TOI’s transparent and efficient recruitment process, which includes early and open compensation discussions. Exploratory conversations can also be arranged for those not immediately ready to apply, reflecting TOI’s commitment to supportive physician careers and community oncology excellence.
