This job opening is for a part-time Sous Chef position at Heathers Manor in Crystal, MN, offering 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $22. The Sous Chef holds a pivotal role in the culinary department, supporting the Executive Chef and Culinary Director to ensure an exceptional dining experience for residents and guests. Key responsibilities include food preparation, kitchen management, staff collaboration, and maintaining stringent health and safety standards in the kitchen environment. The role demands creativity in culinary execution and leadership abilities to foster a motivating work atmosphere among kitchen staff. The Sous Chef is also responsible for conducting quality assurance audits, ensuring compliance with state and county food safety regulations, and managing relationships with food and equipment vendors. Additionally, the Sous Chef will contribute to staffing activities such as hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen personnel, as well as supervising utility and front-of-house staff when needed. Job Requirements
- Completion of a background check
- Drug screen, physical, TB test, and fingerprinting may be needed per state or local guidelines
- Experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a senior living community is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and external constituents
- Able to prepare therapeutic and modified diets
- Successful completion of a recognized food safety course
- First aid training and CPR training may be required in certain state or local jurisdictions

Job Duties
- Prepare delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits to ensure food is well prepared and kitchen is neat and organized
- Ensure kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling
- Ensure compliance with King County and DSHS regulations
- Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
- Assist with hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen staff
- Assist with supervising utility and FOH staff as needed
- Create a motivating environment that encourages team members to be involved, creative, and problem solving
- Act as Executive Chef in their absence
- Perform other duties as assigned
