The Health & Safety Specialist position at MP Materials is integral to maintaining a safe work environment for all site personnel. This role involves preparation and delivery of health and safety training focused on OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, workplace inspections, site-specific awareness, and emergency response protocols. Working under the supervision of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, the specialist leads investigations into workplace incidents, identifies health and safety risks, and recommends corrective actions. The role also includes supporting emergency response planning and incident investigations by auditing current procedures, coordinating response efforts, and developing strategies to address hazards effectively. An essential part of the role is monitoring working conditions and ensuring compliance with safety standards across all site activities, including those involving contractors. The Health & Safety Specialist actively contributes to sustaining a culture of safety through training development and delivery, site-wide inspections, and regulatory coordination. This position requires a proactive mindset, excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to upholding high safety standards to protect employee health and enhance productivity.

Job Requirements
- Minimum three years experience in health and safety
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Certified First Aid CPR AED trainer
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Job Duties
- Monitor assess and resolve health and safety issues in the work environment
- Identify and evaluate chemical and biological dangers such as air quality ergonomic challenges water or dangerous sound levels
- Complete routine site wide inspections to remain in compliance with regulations
- Evaluate proposed process modifications additions and changes to identify potential safety concerns and recommend appropriate safeguards
- Ensure contractor personnel comply with MP Materials policies and safety requirements
- Assist site champions in developing rolling out and updating standardized work instructions
- Provide advice assistance and audit procedures to ensure overall effectiveness
- Develop conduct and deliver safety training across all shifts
- Coordinate regulatory agency inspections and ensure deficiency corrections
- Lead investigations into accidents and incidents with findings and corrective actions
- Conduct field inspections audits and hazard recognition training for employees and contractors to comply with OSHA and EPA requirements
