Job Description

The Ned's Club in Washington DC is an exclusive and distinguished members club situated in the historic Riggs Building, a neoclassical style structure located within President's Park at 734 15th Street NW. This 12-storey building boasts a prime location near significant landmarks such as the White House, US Treasury, and Washington Monument. The club spans three floors and features luxurious spaces including a Rooftop Terrace, Loft Restaurant with breathtaking views, a Founder’s Dining Room, a Library, a Drawing Room, a Gallery, and a Conservatory, alongside a dedicated floor for private event spaces. The Ned’s Club is part of a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants aimed at bringing like-minded individuals together to meet, work, and enjoy exceptional experiences. Established in London in 2017, The Ned has rapidly expanded with this Washington DC location being its fourth and newest member.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 to $125,000 and reports directly to the Executive Chef. The Head Pastry Chef will oversee all aspects of pastry production and quality, ensuring every product is crafted to meet the club's exceptional standards.

This leadership role involves comprehensive kitchen and team management responsibilities, including menu creation, costing, budgeting, and labor management. The successful candidate will also champion food safety and hygiene practices, ensuring the kitchen operates within the highest safety and audit standards. A major aspect of the role is fostering a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere, supporting the growth and development of culinary talent within The Ned’s Club culture. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in pastry kitchen leadership
  • Ability to maintain high food safety and hygiene standards
  • Demonstrated commercial and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods and lift, pull, or push up to 35 pounds

Job Duties

  • Lead the team in the production of desserts and bread for restaurants, catering, and events ensuring high standards
  • Achieve commercial kitchen goals including menu costing, budgeting, P&L management, and labor spend
  • Manage people leadership tasks including recruitment, development, performance reviews, and onboarding
  • Guide and develop kitchen leadership team and future talent
  • Ensure quality, presentation, and consistency of all pastry productions with coaching and feedback
  • Create and maintain a safe and clean kitchen environment
  • Uphold food safety and audit standards by monitoring procedures, keeping records, and implementing action plans
