Charter Communications is a leading telecommunications company in the United States, widely recognized under its Spectrum brand. Serving more than 32 million customers across 41 states, Charter provides a broad range of superior communication and entertainment products including Spectrum Internet, TV, Mobile, and Voice services. The company also offers local news, programming, and regional sports through Spectrum Networks, alongside multiscreen advertising solutions via Spectrum Reach. With a workforce exceeding 101,000 employees, Charter Communications is committed to enabling customers to stay connected to what matters most. The company fosters an inclusive culture that reflects the diverse communities it serves and is dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals. Charter offers a comprehensive pay and benefits package that supports employees' well-being at every stage of life, rewarding their contributions with competitive compensation and career growth opportunities. The base pay for the Head of Technology role at Charter Communications generally ranges between $263,200 and $393,800, with the actual compensation influenced by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additional incentive-based compensation such as bonuses may also be available.
The role of Head of Technology at Charter Communications involves leading the technological vision and execution for a new behavioral intelligence platform initiative within the company. As the chief technology officer of this cutting-edge platform, the Head of Technology will be accountable for the architecture, engineering, and operational excellence across the full technology stack. This encompasses large-scale data ingestion and processing, a behavioral embedding platform and feature store, ML/AI infrastructure, an agent-to-agent API layer facilitating real-time intelligence exchange with external AI systems, and a business-facing agentic user interface. This UI is designed to empower non-technical users, allowing them to query and act on household intelligence through natural language interactions.
This leadership position demands building and managing a high-performance engineering team capable of attracting and retaining top talent in fierce competition with leading technology platforms. The Head of Technology will be the primary technical representative in strategic partner integrations, working closely with cloud, data, and AI platform providers to ensure seamless and innovative collaborations. Reporting directly to the Head of Intelligence Ventures, this role also involves sitting on the platform leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and long-term platform development.
Key responsibilities of the Head of Technology include owning the end-to-end architecture from data signal ingestion through to intelligence delivery, leading the development of cloud-native data and application infrastructure, and embedding rigorous engineering standards and MLOps practices to support scalability. The role requires overseeing complex integrations with external partners while maintaining data privacy, governance, and differentiating architectural principles. Additionally, the Head of Technology will architect a business-facing natural language interface designed for accuracy, trust, and usability, serving a wide range of enterprise users from marketing to business planning.
The successful candidate must have deep expertise in distributed data pipelines, ML platform architectures, embedding systems, feature stores, agent-to-agent API designs, and large language model-powered application layers. They must demonstrate a proven track record of delivering production-grade, coherent platforms and managing consumer data intelligence or data product platforms underpinned by complex machine learning systems. Proficiency with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Snowflake technologies, and production ML/AI systems is essential.
Further, the candidate needs experience in building agentic AI systems and natural language UIs grounded in proprietary data, with strong product instincts around user experience, accuracy, and trustworthiness for non-technical users. Communication skills are critical, as the role involves high-level engagements with C-suite executives and strategic partners. A strong understanding of privacy-preserving data architectures and regulatory compliance is necessary, alongside demonstrated success in recruiting and developing exceptional engineering talent in competitive markets.
This position is based in New York City with travel requirements for partner engagements, executive meetings, and industry events. The role requires operating effectively in an ambiguous, early-stage environment while maintaining rigorous standards and meeting aggressive milestones. Candidates with experience leading senior technical teams, managing both internal and outsourced resources, and building externally consumed data platforms and APIs will be highly valued.
Charter Communications offers an inspiring career opportunity to build a transformative behavioral intelligence platform at scale within a prominent enterprise. The company encourages qualified applicants to apply and supports diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities throughout its workforce.
