Located at Store #37, 14524 S.W 8th Street, Miami, FL 33184, this establishment integrates a community-centered approach to retail, emphasizing customer satisfaction and superior product offerings. The store operates within a friendly, efficient, and organized environment, embodying values geared towards safety, cleanliness, and the well-being of both employees and patrons.
The Head Cook position at Sedano's Supermarkets is a vital role responsible for preparing the food that is sold either by the pound or in individual servings, ensuring that customers receive both flavorful and high-quality meals consistently. This role operates on a part-time schedule with flexible morning or afternoon shifts, suiting candidates seeking adaptable work hours. This position demands a professional who maintains the store's standards, values, and operational principles with precision, representing the company's dedication to superior service and safety.
In this role, the Head Cook takes charge of daily food preparations which include marinating, soaking, cutting, and cooking meats and vegetables. The cook ensures that prepared foods are ready to be displayed by 9:30 a.m and continues to prepare additional meals to serve lunchtime customers by 11:30 a.m. Meticulous attention to cleanliness, food safety, and the proper handling of kitchen equipment are essential aspects of the job. The ideal candidate must routinely check inventory with the department supervisor, plan menus, write orders based on sales promotions, and maintain proper temperatures in display cases, refrigerators, and freezers.
The position also requires the Head Cook to maintain a clean and organized pantry, coolers, and freezers, adhering strictly to health and safety codes at federal, state, and local levels. Safety in the kitchen is paramount, including the immediate securing of hazardous areas and prompt reporting or resolution of any unsafe conditions. The employee is expected to wear uniforms as directed, uphold friendly customer interactions, and collaborate in department and store meetings.
Additional responsibilities involve the proper use and maintenance of kitchen appliances such as stoves, ovens, fryers, and steamers. The Head Cook assists with training newly hired or promoted cooks and participates in keeping the kitchen clean and prepared for subsequent shifts. An understanding of both Spanish and English is preferred to facilitate communication in a bilingual work environment.
This position demands physical endurance, with the employee required to stand for extended periods, walk, handle supplies, and perform repetitive motions involved in food preparation. The work environment features low to moderate noise levels, typical of grocery stores and kitchens. Sedano's Supermarkets fosters an inclusive workplace and offers reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
The job description outlined represents the basic duties and responsibilities but does not constitute a contract or guarantee of employment. Sedano's Supermarkets reserves the right to make necessary changes to the job description as required to meet operational needs and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations. The Head Cook plays a key role in upholding the brand’s reputation for quality and safety while delivering an excellent customer experience at every interaction.
