Job Description

Target Hospitality is a leading provider of innovative solutions for workforce accommodations and food services, primarily serving the oil and gas industry, mining, and construction sectors. Known for their commitment to quality and safety, Target Hospitality operates camps and lodges designed to offer comfort and efficiency to workers stationed in remote locations. Their dedicated team strives to provide outstanding hospitality services, ensuring that all guests receive nutritious meals and world-class customer care. With a strong emphasis on safety culture and operational excellence, the company fosters an environment of professionalism and respect for every employee and client.

The Head Chef role at Target Hospitality is an essential leadership position within the kitchen team, reporting directly to the Lodge Manager. This hourly position demands a highly skilled culinary professional responsible for overseeing the preparation, production, and timely service of meals in accordance with approved standards. The Head Chef's primary responsibilities include supervising kitchen staff, coordinating food storage and safety practices, and managing kitchen operations to align with HACCP and FIFO guidelines. This role requires exceptional culinary expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

A key focus of the Head Chef is maintaining a safety culture by strictly following all standard operating procedures (SOPs), job safety analyses (JSAs), policies, and procedures set by Target Hospitality. The position involves hands-on coordination of meal preparation based on menu plans and specifications provided by the Chef, ensuring high-quality food production that meets guest expectations. The Head Chef also oversees inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels for uninterrupted food service, especially during extended periods affected by transportation or supply disruptions.

In addition to culinary duties, the Head Chef provides leadership and guidance to kitchen staff, including new employees and those under their direct supervision. Daily collaboration with the Chef helps optimize menu preparation and production strategies. The role also includes defining work schedules, running daily safety meetings, and participating in emergency response procedures. Physical demands of the position include standing for long periods, lifting heavy objects, and operating various kitchen equipment such as flat-top grills, industrial mixers, and convection ovens. The Head Chef must thrive in a challenging environment that may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and close quarters.

Ideal candidates for this role will have at least three years of culinary experience, preferably within remote camp settings or hospitality industries such as hotels. Valid food safety and first aid certifications are advantageous, alongside excellent communication, leadership, prioritization, and time management skills. Candidates must be willing to work long rotations away from home, provide their own transportation, and successfully pass background checks and drug screenings. By joining Target Hospitality as a Head Chef, individuals become part of a respected employer dedicated to equal opportunity and supporting protected veterans and individuals with disabilities, promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace.
