Job Description
Happy Hospitality is the creative force behind three distinctive dining establishments: Happy Camper, Homeslice, and Paradise Park. These restaurants are renowned for their vibrant, art-inspired interiors filled with murals, eclectic lighting, and countless picturesque vignettes, making each location a hotspot for social media enthusiasts and food lovers alike. The brand prides itself not only on the quality of its delicious cuisine but also on the lively atmosphere and the strong community spirit that unites its team. At the heart of Happy Hospitality's success is its unique company culture which binds these spaces together through a shared focus on creativity, teamwork, and an outstanding hospitality experience. The company values attention to detail and prioritizes cultivating an environment where employees find purpose and satisfaction in their careers. Many team members have been with the company since its inception, highlighting the supportive and engaging work environment that has been carefully nurtured over time.
The role currently available is a Bartender position at Happy Camper, located in Old Town Chicago at 1209 N Wells Street. This position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about the hospitality industry and eager to contribute to a dynamic and expanding restaurant group. Bartenders at Happy Camper are entrusted with managing their section behind the bar and on the floor, serving craft beers, wines, and expertly mixed cocktails while fostering an energetic and inviting atmosphere. They play an integral role in building a culture grounded in teamwork, execution, and fun, aligning with the brand’s emphasis on exceptional service and guest satisfaction.
The bartender role extends beyond simply pouring drinks. Candidates are expected to engage guests warmly, guide them through their dining and beverage experience, and maintain a deep knowledge of the menu. This includes food items, specialty cocktails, wine selections, and craft beers. The successful candidate will demonstrate superior bartending techniques, uphold rigorous cleanliness and maintenance standards for the bar, and work closely with bussers and other staff to ensure a seamless service experience. They are expected to operate with a strong sense of hospitality while working efficiently under pressure. This includes responding proactively to guest needs and collaborating effectively with management and fellow team members.
Additionally, the role requires strict adherence to all health and safety regulations as mandated by company policy and the Health Department. Bartenders are responsible for performing opening and closing duties and must be flexible to fill in at different stations or take on tasks as needed to maintain smooth restaurant operations. Due to the physical nature of the job, candidates should be prepared to stand and walk for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Compensation for this position includes an hourly wage starting at $12.62 per hour, which corresponds to the Chicago tipped minimum wage, plus tips. Bartenders typically earn between $45 to $55 per hour in total compensation when tips are included. Happy Hospitality also offers competitive benefits such as paid time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options, dining discounts, and a referral bonus program. Flexible scheduling and a friendly, team-oriented workplace culture make this an attractive opportunity for bartenders seeking to grow their career in an innovative restaurant group in Chicago.
