Job Description

Modern Aviation is a leading fixed base operator (FBO) dedicated to providing comprehensive and high-quality aviation services. Renowned for its commitment to exceptional customer service, Modern Aviation caters to a diverse clientele that includes private jet owners, flight crews, and passengers. The company operates with a focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism, ensuring the highest standards in aircraft handling and ground support services. As a pivotal player in the aviation industry, Modern Aviation operates across various terminals and ramp areas, delivering seamless support to aircraft arrivals and departures. Known for adopting flexible staffing models, they offer variable employment opportunities that allow employees to tailor their schedules to meet fluctuating operational demands.

The Ground Handler (Variable) role at Modern Aviation is a crucial position designed to enhance the overall customer experience by providing safe, efficient, and high-quality ground handling and concierge services. This variable employment opportunity offers employees the flexibility to set their own schedules as work becomes available, making it suitable for individuals seeking part-time or varied hours. Working primarily within the Charter Terminal and on the Aircraft Parking Ramp, the Ground Handler becomes a vital link between aircraft operations and customer satisfaction. This role entails a range of responsibilities including greeting and assisting passengers and flight crews upon arrival, coordinating ground transportation, handling passenger luggage, supporting flight crews with various service tasks, as well as ensuring timely fueling and aircraft servicing. Collaboration with the Charter Manager and management team is essential to meet customer needs promptly, professionally, and safely.

The role demands a high level of physical activity as handlers frequently engage in tasks such as lifting, walking, bending, and operating in outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions and operational noises. Ground Handlers are expected to assist with aircraft interior cleaning and cabin servicing when necessary, facilitate the loading and offloading of baggage, and manage essential services like lavatory and potable water replenishment. They are also responsible for supporting departure preparations by delivering catering needs such as coffee, ice, and newspapers. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and varied shifts is essential to accommodate the dynamic nature of airport operations.

In addition to operational duties, Ground Handlers play an important role in supporting their team and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. They are encouraged to help colleagues when not actively servicing aircraft or customers and participate in initiatives designed to enhance both customer service and operational efficiency. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and prompt escalation of any operational issues or irregularities. Candidates must be able to pass an airport security background check and drug screening, and possess a valid driver's license. Prior experience in aviation is preferred but not mandatory. Modern Aviation offers competitive variable hourly pay in the range of $16.00 to $17.00 per hour. While seasonal, part-time, and variable staff are typically not eligible for health benefits, the company maintains a strong commitment to equal employment opportunities and inclusivity.
