Job Description

City of Hope is a world-renowned independent research and treatment center that has been dedicated to making hope a reality for those affected by cancer and diabetes since its founding in 1913. As one of the largest and most advanced cancer research institutions in the United States, City of Hope integrates cutting-edge research with comprehensive patient care to provide groundbreaking treatments and compassionate services. Located primarily in Los Angeles with expanding facilities across Southern California, as well as in Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix, City of Hope offers a unique combination of treatment, research, academics, and philanthropy to serve patients and their families holistically. The institution is highly regarded nationally, with its National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center frequently ranked in the top 5 in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. City of Hope's legacy includes pioneering achievements such as the development of synthetic human insulin and monoclonal antibodies, enhancing the medical landscape for many life-threatening illnesses beyond cancer and diabetes.

The role of Guest Services Representative at City of Hope is essential to the patient and guest experience. This part-time position offers a schedule primarily covering Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with on-call responsibilities every Monday. Flexibility is emphasized, as working days and hours may occasionally change based on business needs. The Guest Services Representative serves as a welcoming face for patients and visitors at the Guest Quarters or Hospital Concierge Desk, consistently delivering a warm, professional, and sincere greeting. This role demands exceptional customer service skills to ensure all guests' questions and concerns are handled with care and efficiency. Representatives work collaboratively with multiple departments, including Travel and Accommodations, Transportation, Security, Registration, and Financial Counseling, to facilitate seamless support and navigation for guests throughout their visit.

This position requires an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and exhibit a professional demeanor that fosters positive interactions across diverse groups of people. The role involves assisting guests who may need extra help, such as those using wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, or carrying luggage, highlighting the importance of empathy and attentiveness. City of Hope values team members who are positive, self-motivated, and reliable, with an exemplary attendance record. Familiarity with local areas and activities enhances the ability to guide guests effectively.

Working at City of Hope offers the opportunity to be part of a leading healthcare organization renowned for innovation and patient-centered care. The Guest Services Representative role not only strengthens the overall guest experience but also contributes to the institution’s mission to provide hope and healing through an integrated model of care that advances life-saving research and treatment. Candidates will benefit from close interactions with compassionate patients and dedicated staff while supporting a prestigious organization that prioritizes excellence in both science and service.
