The position available at the Langley Inn is a flexible, intermittent role designed to provide essential front desk and guest services support. This permanent appointment does not include promotion potential but offers valuable experience in clerical and customer service functions within a government-funded Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program.

The front desk role at Langley Inn is crucial for the smooth operation of lodging facilities on the base. Responsibilities include managing room reservations via multiple communication channels such as telephone, email, and in-person requests. The incumbent will perform room assignments, issue keys, and assist guests with check-in and check-out procedures while ensuring that only authorized personnel utilize government-sponsored quarters. The position requires meticulous financial handling, including posting charges, balancing accounts, and safeguarding cash receipts, alongside daily reporting duties.

Additional tasks encompass maintaining inventories of sundry sales items, updating housekeeping statuses, and coordinating guest maintenance requests with relevant departments. The role demands a polished personal appearance and professional demeanor to uphold the Inn's reputation for hospitality excellence. The selected candidate will also be responsible for executing night audit procedures and managing the lost and found program, which further emphasizes attention to detail and organizational skill.

This position requires shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, a valid state driver's license, and adherence to federal security and drug testing policies. The successful applicant will undergo a thorough background investigation and must be at least 21 years of age with at least three years of residence or legal status in the U.S. Candidates are expected to possess strong clerical and arithmetic skills, the ability to provide outstanding customer service, and the capability to communicate clearly in English. Job Requirements

  • Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a legal U.S. resident for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a background investigation with favorable results
  • Must be able to work shift work including evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
  • Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
  • Subject to pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter
  • Must meet state and legal age requirement for sale of alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to provide REAL ID or authorized source identity documents for installation access

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in general clerical or cashier work demonstrating ability to perform multiple tasks and provide quality customer service
  • Ability to resolve common arithmetic problems and make change when receiving payment
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English
  • Experience in handling room reservations and guest services preferred
  • Ability to operate property management systems and process night audit procedures
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor

Job Duties

  • Receives and confirms room reservations by letter, telephone, email, or personal contact
  • Registers and assigns rooms to guests, makes and issues room keys, and may escort guests to rooms as needed
  • Ensures that only authorized patrons use government sponsored quarters
  • Calculates and posts charges to patrons' accounts and balances totals with control records
  • Accepts payment, makes change, and presents departing guests checkout statements
  • Prepares and safeguards cash receipts, prepares daily cashier's report, daily activity report, and may prepare consolidated daily activity report
  • Maintains current checkout list
  • Maintains and sells sundry sales items to patrons
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Ensures required information is received from guest and entered into guest folio
  • Prints backup reports from property management system
  • Ensures housekeeping status of rooms is updated
  • Records and notifies appropriate person/organization of maintenance problems reported by guests
  • Ensure front desk area and lobby remains clean
  • Process Night Audit procedures and close credit card machines nightly
  • Maintains the lost and found program
  • Ensures that customer service is the first priority
  • Drives government vehicles in the course of regular duties
