Job Description

The Detroit Foundation Hotel is a unique boutique hotel located in the heart of Detroit, Michigan, housed in the historic Detroit Fire Department Headquarters. As part of the Aparium Hotel Group, a company founded in 2011 that aims to deliver high-end hospitality experiences in underserved yet vibrant cities, the Detroit Foundation Hotel embodies the spirit of its community by blending rich local history with modern luxury. Known for celebrating the power of People, Place, and Character, the hotel offers its guests an authentic Detroit experience enhanced by local partnerships with distillers, brewers, farmers, and other purveyors. Guests can enjoy amenities such as the inviting ground-floor restaurant, The Apparatus Room, which serves as a social hub reflecting the city's unique culture.

The Guest Services Ambassador role at the Detroit Foundation Hotel is a vital position that goes far beyond conventional front desk duties. As a non-exempt role reporting to the Director of Rooms and Guest Service Managers, this position focuses on owning and enhancing the guest experience from start to finish. The Ambassador acts as a warm, knowledgeable host who seamlessly manages guest interactions with sophistication and care. This includes greeting guests, facilitating smooth arrivals and departures, offering local recommendations, and responding promptly to guest needs with a personal touch. The Ambassador's goal is to transform each stay into a memorable and unique experience that highlights both the hotel’s charm and the surrounding community.

This position sues creativity and detail-orientation as key assets, and it requires someone who is passionate about cultivating hospitality that feels genuine and exceptional. Rather than simply handling administrative tasks, the Ambassador engages actively with guests, supporting them in diverse ways, whether it’s helping with luggage, acting as a tour guide, or accommodating special requests, even when that means bending protocol thoughtfully. The role demands a flexible and proactive approach, often requiring the Ambassador to wear multiple hats such as bellman, valet, or greeter. As part of a dynamic team within Aparium Hotel Group, the Ambassador contributes to a culture of excellence and innovation in hospitality, reflecting Aparium’s commitment to authenticity, community connection, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate understands that delivering extraordinary hospitality is about the small details and thoughtful gestures as much as it is about service standards. They are a perfectionist who knows that the best experiences come from effort, spontaneity, and a genuine desire to make every guest feel valued. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and looks forward to contributing to a local hotel brand recognized for blending luxury with boutique charm in a growing market. Employing this role means embracing a community-centered philosophy that reflects Detroit’s renaissance and Aparium’s vision of hospitality done differently.
