As a Guest Services Agent (GSA) at Sonesta, the role is pivotal in ensuring the success of each hotel property by being the first point of contact for guests and representing the brand’s high standards. The GSA is responsible for managing front desk operations, supporting the Operations Manager, and maintaining guest relations during their shift. This position requires handling guest registrations, issuing room keys, managing cash and credit transactions securely, and providing excellent customer service aligned with Sonesta’s G.U.E.S.T. standards. The role also demands proficiency in hotel technology systems, reservation management, and the ability to handle guest special requests efficiently.

The Guest Services Agent’s responsibilities extend to promoting teamwork across shifts, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, and facilitating service at the shoppe and bar while adhering to local laws regarding alcohol sales. This comprehensive role is essential for enhancing revenue through effective up-selling strategies and supporting the seasonal demand reservation approach crafted by hotel management.

This position offers an hourly compensation ranging between $25.00 and $30.00, dependent on experience and qualifications. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willingness to obtain ServSafe certification
  • May require TIPS certification
  • Ability to frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility
  • Ability to carry, lift or pull items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to handle objects and equipment frequently
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year previous hotel or retail customer service experience preferred
  • Experience in the extended stay industry preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math, budgeting, profit and loss, percentages, and variance knowledge preferred
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizing, and training abilities preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Willingness to obtain ServSafe certification
  • May require TIPS certification
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all guest interactions according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • Register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room location
  • Accurately process cash and credit card transactions including posting charges, preparing deposits, and securing assigned bank
  • Maintain security of cash, credit card transactions, and guest information
  • Book guest reservations, process cancellations, revisions, and update information
  • Follow seasonal demand reservation strategy related to room type and pricing
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and management
  • Service the shoppe and the pour ensuring guests receive offered products and comply with alcoholic beverage laws
  • Fulfill guest special requests and ensure proper delivery of services
  • Issue and control guest safe-deposit boxes
  • Comply with federal, state and local health, safety, and alcohol service laws
  • Perform other assigned duties
