Within this dynamic and expanding enterprise, the role of Guest Services Agent (GSA) is vital to the overall success and mission of each hotel location. The Guest Services Agent serves as the primary point of contact for guests upon entry, embodying the brand’s promise by delivering exceptional customer service with passion and professionalism. This role is pivotal in managing front desk operations including guest check-ins and check-outs, handling reservations, processing payments, and ensuring guest requests are met promptly and efficiently. The GSA works closely with the Operations Manager and coordinates with different departments to foster a team-oriented atmosphere and to maintain smooth front desk functions.

This position demands a high level of attentiveness and responsiveness to guest needs while utilizing front desk technology systems to manage room reservations and service delivery. Responsibilities also include safeguarding sensitive information, managing financial transactions in strict accordance with hotel policies, and supporting various service areas such as the hotel shop and bar, always in compliance with legal and safety standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate professional communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly demeanor.

The Guest Services Agent position is full-time and offers an hourly pay range typically between $24.00 and $25.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • background in extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical skills including basic math and budgeting concepts preferred
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities preferred
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • required to obtain ServSafe certification
  • may be required to obtain TIPS certification
  • valid driver’s license required
  • frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • frequently handling objects and equipment
  • standing for extended periods of time
  • required to work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all guest interactions according to the G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room location
  • answer phones promptly and courteously
  • accurately process cash and credit card transactions including posting charges, completing reports, and preparing deposits
  • maintain security of cash, credit card transactions, and guest information
  • book guest reservations and manage cancellations and updates
  • follow seasonal reservation and pricing strategies
  • promote teamwork and coordinate with other shifts and departmental management
  • service the shoppe and bar ensuring compliance with alcoholic beverage laws
  • fulfill guest special requests and ensure proper delivery of services
  • issue and control guest safe-deposit boxes
  • comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services
  • perform other duties as assigned
