Operating multiple museums across the Charlotte region—including Discovery Place Science, Discovery Place Kids–Huntersville, Discovery Place Kids–Rockingham, and the upcoming Charlotte Museum of Nature—Discovery Place serves thousands of school groups, families, and community organizations annually. The Guest Sales Associate role at Discovery Place is a full-time, consultative sales position primarily focused on converting inquiries related to school field trips, birthday parties, group reservations, classes, and memberships into confirmed bookings. This front-line position within the Guest Sales & Reservations team plays a crucial part in engaging prospective guests, understanding their interests, and matching them with the most appropriate Discovery Place experiences. The ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with guests over the phone, building rapport quickly, and is motivated by achieving weekly sales targets. Approximately 80% of the role’s duties include scheduling consultations and proactive follow-up with a managed pipeline of warm leads. This requires strong organizational skills, persistence, and effective communication to provide exceptional customer service and drive sales success. The role offers opportunities to work in a hybrid model, balancing in-office collaboration with remote work days. Candidates must also possess physical capabilities to fulfill job duties, including lifting 10 pounds and valid driver’s license.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- At least two years of sales experience
- Proven ability to close sales and overcome objections
- Experience in consultative selling
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage a sales pipeline and follow up consistently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 10 pounds
- Physical capability to fulfill the role’s demands
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- At least two years of sales experience with demonstrated success in closing deals
- Experience in consultative selling and appointment-based sales preferred
- Background in education, events, or guest service is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Salesforce CRM experience a plus
- Self-motivated with strong time management abilities
Job Duties
- Conduct scheduled sales consultations with prospective guests, identifying needs and matching them to the right Discovery Place experience
- Convert field trip, birthday party, and group inquiries into bookings through consultative selling and effective objection handling
- Build compelling value propositions grounded in deep knowledge of exhibits, programs, and pricing
- Proactively manage a personal sales pipeline, keeping appointments and follow-ups on schedule
- Run outbound calling campaigns targeting prior guests, lapsed contacts, and qualified leads
- Handle inbound calls and inquiries as needed while protecting calendar time for scheduled consultations
- Coordinate and book museum visits, classes, programs, and birthday parties across all Discovery Place locations
- Support membership-related activities, including renewals, upgrades, and lead follow-up
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of client interactions and sales activities in Salesforce
- Surface trends, recurring objections, and new opportunities to the Director of Sales & Membership
