Job Description
REM Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, is dedicated to providing exceptional community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sevita is a renowned leader in home and community-based specialized health care, committed to supporting individuals in achieving growth, independence, and a full life. With more than 50 years of experience and a workforce of 40,000 team members, Sevita serves approximately 50,000 individuals across the United States. The company values inclusivity and equal opportunity, fostering a workplace free from discrimination of any kind.
As a program within Sevita, REM Community Services focuses on offering tailored support that honors the rights and dignity of every individual. The organization's philosophy centers on creating fulfilling careers for its team members while empowering those they serve to live well. Employing person-centered plans and maintaining high standards in health care, advocacy, and compliance, REM Community Services is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals in various residential, vocational, or day program settings.
The Program Supervisor role at REM Community Services is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position paying $19 per hour. The schedule includes working Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This supervisory position entails overseeing a single program or unit, typically supporting 4-8 individuals in residential programs or 10-15 individuals in periodic, vocational, or day programs. The Program Supervisor is responsible for a blend of direct support, professional program activities, and staff supervision.
Key functions include supervising Direct Support Professionals, managing day-to-day program operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing person-centered plans, and maintaining the health and safety of individuals served. In addition to supervisory duties, the role requires hands-on support, typically working 8 to 16 hours per week as a supervisor and providing direct care for remaining hours. This balance allows the supervisor to stay connected to the individuals and staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
The Program Supervisor also plays a vital role in financial management by overseeing purchasing, budget compliance, and monitoring individual funds. Responsibilities extend to maintaining a safe and supportive living environment, including vehicle upkeep, physical space maintenance, and ensuring the proper use of medical supplies and equipment. The position demands strong communication and stakeholder relations skills to maintain productive interactions with individuals, families, case managers, and other relevant parties.
Additional duties include assisting with recruitment, hiring, training, employee evaluations, and disciplinary measures. The role emphasizes employee safety, compliance with company policies, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Supervisory responsibilities involve managing schedules, minimizing overtime, and leading monthly staff meetings with clear documentation.
Overall, the Program Supervisor position at REM Community Services offers a meaningful career path within a mission-driven environment. Candidates must have a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record meeting Sevita's insurance policies and be at least 18 years old. A high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of related work experience are required. The role demands physical capability for heavy work and proficiency in computer use.
Joining REM Community Services means becoming part of a compassionate, supportive team dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This rewarding career opportunity offers a chance to grow professionally while contributing to a vital mission committed to inclusivity, quality care, and independence.
