Job Description

Delta Air Lines is a leading global airline known for its commitment to excellence in customer service and operational reliability. With a rich history dating back to 1924, Delta has grown into one of the world's largest and most innovative airlines, connecting people and communities across the globe. The company’s dedication to customer care, safety, and operational efficiency positions it as a prominent player in the aviation industry. At Delta, employees experience a culture rooted in shared values including care, integrity, resilience, and servant leadership, which drives the company’s continuous success and reputation for excellence.

Delta Air Lines is currently seeking to hire a Ground Maintenance Technician (GMT) with a focus on motorized roles within the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team. This role is crucial in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of ground support vehicles and airport systems that directly impact daily airport operations and passenger experience. As a GMT specializing in vehicle and heavy equipment mechanics, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and overhauling various mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of a wide range of airport equipment. This position demands technical expertise and hands-on experience with vehicle systems, combined with the ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team.

The role requires either the completion of a two-year technical degree or a minimum of three years of demonstrated ability in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance. Through a mix of preventative maintenance, repair work, and innovative troubleshooting, the Ground Maintenance Technician supports Delta’s mission to deliver a seamless and elevated customer experience. Employees filling this role are essential contributors to keeping aircraft operations smooth and timely, helping maintain Delta’s reputation for reliability and service excellence.

In addition to technical skills, the GMT will handle data entry for service records and collaborate with other team members and company personnel. At Delta, the Ground Maintenance Technician benefits from competitive compensation with opportunities for increased pay within six months based on certifications such as ASE and CIMM, as well as shift and skill differentials. For those hired to work at LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Delta offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus to acknowledge the critical nature of this position and to attract top talent.

Furthermore, eligible employees working at major New York City airports (JFK and LGA) may receive reimbursements for public transit transportation costs up to $250 per month. Delta’s comprehensive approach to employee well-being includes access to competitive salaries, profit sharing, robust health benefits, paid time off, and career development opportunities. The Ground Maintenance Technician role ultimately provides a dynamic work environment filled with opportunities to grow professionally while contributing to one of the world’s most respected airlines.
