Creative Dining Services is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer and proudly supports veterans in its workforce.
The Grill and Pizza Cook position at Creative Dining Services located within the Jackson National Life Insurance Building in Lansing, Michigan, offers a great opportunity for individuals looking for a rewarding culinary role with work-life balance. This is a full-time position with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm, including a 1 to 2-hour unpaid break, providing the much-desired benefit of weekends off. The role requires a dedicated cook responsible for preparing high-quality, properly seasoned, and nutritious food items, specifically grilled and pizza offerings, ensuring that food freshness, quality, and appeal are preserved at all times. Attention to detail in timing food production to align with service times is critical, as is adherence to established recipes and batch cooking methods to avoid overproduction and minimize waste.
In this role, the cook is expected to maintain appropriate storage conditions and labeling for all food items and hold prepared foods at the correct temperatures to ensure safety and quality. Accurate record-keeping for food usage, overages, shortages, and customer counts forms an essential part of operational management in the kitchen. The position also involves procedural duties such as following work rules closely, maintaining uniform standards, punctuality, and assisting with stock management tasks. This detailed-oriented job is tailored for those who not only have skill in food preparation but who also appreciate the importance of maintaining cleanliness, efficiency, and teamwork in a professional kitchen environment. The company offers comprehensive benefits including early access to pay, performance bonuses, paid time off, holiday pay, a range of health insurance options including dental and vision coverage plus a health savings account with company contributions, life insurance, and retirement plans with employer match. Additional employee support programs cover medication discounts, diabetes management, employee assistance services, and educational reimbursement opportunities, making it an attractive employment option for career-minded culinary professionals.
