Job Description

The Salvation Army's Divisional Headquarters, located in Canton, MA, is a well-established charitable organization that operates as part of the international evangelical movement within the universal Christian Church. With a mission guided by the love of God and a commitment to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, The Salvation Army is also dedicated to meeting human needs in His name without discrimination. The organization focuses on humanitarian efforts including social ministries, fundraising, and community support activities, ensuring that their work impacts and supports vulnerable populations in the Greater Boston area and beyond. The Divisional Headquarters plays a central role in coordinating various programs and events that serve the local community and strengthen the impact of The Salvation Army's mission.

The Greater Boston Events Coordinator position is a part-time role offering 25 hours per week, with an increase to 40 hours during the holiday season. This non-exempt role is compensated between $20.40 and $33.13 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This position is essential for the effective planning and execution of key events such as Back to School drives, Angel Tree programs, Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, and other community support activities. The role requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and strategic planning skills to manage event logistics, coordinate volunteers and staff training, and collaborate closely with internal teams like the Advancement team and local Salvation Army Corps Officers.

The coordinator will manage multiple simultaneous major events with a strong focus on client relations and community engagement. Responsibilities include maintaining and optimizing event and volunteer databases, preparing budgets, overseeing event production and follow-up, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and training requirements. The role also involves cultivating positive relationships with donors, partners, vendors, and other stakeholders to enhance the reach and impact of these events. Additionally, the coordinator supports national, territorial, and divisional promotions to maximize resource collection and awareness efforts, making this a dynamic and impactful position within The Salvation Army's mission-driven work.

Part-time employees at The Salvation Army's Divisional Headquarters enjoy a generous benefits package including paid time off covering holidays, vacation, and sick leave, an employer-funded pension plan after one year of consistent work at over 20 hours per week, and eligibility for various supplemental insurance plans such as voluntary term life insurance, AD&D benefits, and AFLAC insurance. Importantly, this role offers more than just a job; it presents an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community and support those in need while working in an inspirational and supportive environment. The Salvation Army values diversity and equal employment opportunity, ensuring a workplace that respects cultural sensitivity and promotes inclusivity for all qualified applicants, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, disability status, or veteran status.
