Job Description

Schweitzer is a renowned mountain resort known for its passionate mountain recreation professionals who not only work hard but also embrace a vibrant and inclusive culture that enhances mountain access and village life. Located amidst stunning mountain landscapes, Schweitzer offers visitors a memorable experience through various recreational activities and village amenities. The resort prides itself on a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which reflects in the dedication of its staff to provide exceptional service to each guest. As a growing destination, Schweitzer is committed to thoughtful expansion that supports community values while continually improving guest experiences. This makes it an exciting and dynamic place to work where every employee contributes significantly to the resort's enduring success and charm.

We are currently seeking Returning Staff to join our team at The Gourmandie, a specialty food and wine market located within Schweitzer’s Village. This position is ideal for those who enjoy engaging with customers, have a passion for food and beverage, and are looking to work in a lively environment that combines excellent guest service with quality food preparation. The role is seasonal, with options for full-time or part-time employment, offering a wage range from $13.00 to $15.00 plus tips. The employee experience is enhanced by a suite of enticing perks including a free Alterra Mountain Resort pass, employee housing, discounted onsite childcare, accrued paid sick leave, 401(k) matching, exclusive discounts, and potential eligibility for full medical benefits, vacation time, and paid parental leave depending on employment status.

The Clerk role at The Gourmandie involves both guest-facing duties and behind-the-scenes food preparation. Employees will have the opportunity to interact directly with customers by welcoming them, taking orders, and making recommendations from a curated menu of specialty foods and beverages. Beyond customer service, the Clerk will help prepare unique deli items, maintain clean and organized outlet areas, and ensure all kitchen and service utensils are properly cleaned and handled according to health and safety standards. Given the nature of the resort, work schedules will include weekends and holidays, offering a dynamic and fast-paced work environment that is perfect for individuals who enjoy engaging with people and sharing their love for food and mountain culture.

Working at Schweitzer means becoming part of a community that values teamwork, customer engagement, and a passion for mountain recreation. Staff members receive comprehensive training about the resort’s facilities, services, and the many activities offered on the mountain so they can effectively communicate this information to guests. This ensures that every team member not only contributes to smooth operations but also enhances the overall guest experience by sharing valuable insights into what Schweitzer has to offer. The role requires a good level of physical endurance since employees will be on their feet for shifts potentially lasting up to 10 hours and need the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Previous experience in food retail and familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash handling are advantageous. Preferred certifications include SafeServe and Idaho Beverage Seller training, which align with Schweitzer's commitment to food safety and responsible service.

Joining Schweitzer as a Clerk at The Gourmandie is an excellent opportunity for returning employees to reengage with a supportive team and continue their journey in a refreshing and fun mountain environment. Whether you are passionate about food, customer service, or mountain recreation, this seasonal role provides a rewarding experience complemented by robust benefits and the chance to enjoy one of the region’s premier resort destinations.
