The role of Restaurant General Manager at Wheelhouse represents a pivotal leadership position within the Georgetown Events Hospitality Group. Wheelhouse itself is an American Bistro and neighborhood favorite located on Connecticut Avenue in Northwest Washington, DC. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation and overall success of the restaurant by maintaining revenue, profitability, and high standards of quality and service. The General Manager will oversee both the front of the house and back of the house operations, ensuring the dining room runs smoothly, customers receive exceptional service, and kitchen staff are well-managed and compliant with health and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will need proficient management skills and experience spanning both the customer-facing service areas and the kitchen to foster a collaborative and productive environment. Responsibilities include day-to-day coordination, staff supervision, customer complaint resolution, inventory management, compliance with sanitation standards, cost control, reporting, and promotional activities. You will be responsible for training staff, implementing effective policies, and leading by example especially during busy periods to maintain morale and operational efficiency. Job Requirements
- Proven work experience as a restaurant manager, restaurant general manager or similar role
- proven customer service experience as a manager
- extensive food and beverage knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
- strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Internet tools
- familiarity with restaurant management software, like Toast, Paycom, HotSchedules, TripleSeat, and RESY/OpenTable
- strong leadership, motivational and people skills
- acute financial management skills
- degree in business administration
- hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
- ability to do basic repairs and maintenance is a plus
- fluent in English, conversational Spanish is a plus

Job Duties
- Coordinate daily front of the house and back of the house restaurant operations
- deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
- respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
- regularly review product quality and research new vendors
- organize and supervise shifts
- ensure staff operate within company policies
- appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
- estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils and cleaning products
- ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations
- manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it
- control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
- create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses
- promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- recommend ways to reach a broader audience
- train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
- implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
