Job Description

The role offered is that of a General Manager, a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant. This role requires a dedicated professional who can effectively manage all aspects of the restaurant’s functioning to ensure smooth operations and a superior guest experience. The General Manager will lead the staff by selecting, developing, and managing performance to accomplish the restaurant’s goals. In addition to staff oversight, the General Manager will monitor inventory and ordering processes to maintain optimal stock levels and cost effectiveness. A key responsibility is to maximize profits by controlling costs such as food, beverage, supplies, utilities, and labor while maintaining the quality and standards expected by guests.

The General Manager also holds full accountability for the restaurant’s environment, including cleanliness, proper staff uniforms, and the general atmosphere to contribute to an outstanding dining experience. This position requires a strong leader with excellent decision-making skills who can handle multiple duties simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the Regional Director, the General Manager ensures that all operational aspects comply with company standards and adheres to safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for employees and guests.

Key to this role is the ability to foster strong relationships with employees by promoting a cooperative and harmonious workplace climate. The General Manager will take a hands-on approach in managing shifts, scheduling, and meeting the restaurant’s staffing needs to sustain high service levels. This leader will also handle guest complaints tactfully, turning dissatisfied customers into loyal patrons. Moreover, the role demands an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to introduce innovative ideas and contribute to the restaurant’s long-term growth.

The ideal candidate demonstrates mindful guest interaction, a strong sense of urgency, and excellent organizational skills. Experience with high-volume restaurants is preferred, alongside proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word and Excel. Physical demands of the job include prolonged standing, bending, lifting up to 45 pounds, and operating office and kitchen equipment. Educationally, a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in hotel or restaurant management is desirable but not mandatory, with a preference for candidates with at least five years of high-volume restaurant management experience. This position combines a passion for great food and drinks with strong leadership and business acumen to maintain the restaurant’s reputation and success.

Job Duties

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the restaurant and make final decisions on matters of importance to the guest experience
  • Manage shifts including daily decision making, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards, product quality, and cleanliness
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs
  • Prepare schedules and ensure that the restaurant is staffed for all shifts
  • Handle pressures of coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to problems
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs
