As a leader in the food and beverage service industry, HMSHost specializes in operating quick service and casual dining restaurants primarily in travel venues such as airports, highways, and other high-traffic locations. With a strong focus on growth, training, and career advancement, HMSHost brings together size, resources, and an inclusive culture to support employees at every stage of their careers.
The company fosters a culture of engagement, appreciation, care, and inclusion, emphasizing behaviors that empower employees to succeed while delivering outstanding service to travelers worldwide. HMSHost managers are viewed as coach-leaders who inspire their teams to achieve remarkable results with enthusiasm and a genuine passion for hospitality. With competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and ample recognition, HMSHost has built a workplace environment where associates feel valued and motivated.
The General Manager II (GMII) position at HMSHost is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing a complex quick service or casual dining restaurant, or a small cluster of locations, with annual sales typically exceeding $4 million. This role demands a leader with broad discretion and sound judgment who can effectively manage all aspects of restaurant operations to uphold the company’s high operational and financial standards.
The GMII plays a critical role in ensuring the restaurant location is clean, fully staffed, and delivering excellent customer service. This position holds full P&L responsibility, requiring a strong financial acumen to analyze operational data, control costs, and drive revenue growth. The GMII leads the recruitment, training, and development of staff, creating an environment that promotes employee engagement, inclusivity, and adherence to HMSHost’s diversity philosophy.
Responsibilities include managing opening and closing procedures, staffing and scheduling to maximize profitability, ensuring product availability and equipment maintenance, and fostering brand knowledge and compliance with relevant standards. The GMII also champions all employee engagement and safety initiatives, maintaining rigorous health and safety standards while cultivating a positive workplace culture.
Reporting to a Director of Operations or an intermediate zone, cluster, or area leader, the GMII is expected to work varied hours, including opening, peak, and closing shifts, to effectively monitor and support team members. This exempt role combines administrative and executive responsibilities, requiring a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coaching and developing others.
HMSHost values managers who bring positive energy, a passion for serving others, and a commitment to continual learning and growth. By joining HMSHost as a General Manager II, you become part of a company that prioritizes employee well-being through robust benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance; generous paid time off; holiday pay; meal and transportation benefits; 401(k) retirement plan with company match; company-paid life insurance; tuition reimbursement; employee assistance programs; training and career development opportunities; and referral bonuses.
If you are a dedicated leader who enjoys working collaboratively to deliver outstanding hospitality experiences and is passionate about making a positive impact every day, HMSHost offers an exciting and rewarding career path where you can thrive professionally and personally.
