Job Description

Yardstick is a boutique, suites-only dog hotel that has redefined the concept of dog hospitality by focusing on personalized care, elevated service, and creating a calmer and more thoughtful experience for both dogs and their owners. Located in Dallas, Texas, Yardstick is committed to providing a boutique-style pet resort environment where dogs receive exceptional care in luxurious accommodations designed to meet their unique needs. The company takes pride in blending the finest hospitality standards with a deep understanding of animal care to ensure every guest leaves happy and healthy. As Yardstick continues to expand across the Dallas area, they are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead their newest location in Preston Valley. This role is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing company that prioritizes quality, customization, and community engagement in the pet hospitality industry.

The General Manager at Yardstick plays a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience and operational success at the Preston Valley location. This hands-on leadership position requires managing a team of approximately 12 full- and part-time employees, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to embody the company’s culture of hospitality, accountability, and care. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire facility’s daily operations, including scheduling, labor management, facility maintenance, inventory management, and supply ordering. This role demands strong organizational skills, a passion for impeccable service, and the ability to create a positive team dynamic centered on mutual respect and excellence in pet care. Additionally, the General Manager acts as a community ambassador for Yardstick, building relationships through local outreach and partnerships that strengthen the company’s brand and ties within the Dallas area.

Candidates for this position should possess at least five years of leadership or people management experience, preferably in a fast-paced or service-focused environment. Strong operational abilities alongside excellent communication and customer service skills are crucial to successfully managing Yardstick’s day-to-day functions and enhancing the overall guest experience. Integrity, reliability, accountability, and a genuine enthusiasm for growth and ownership opportunities are essential traits for the successful candidate. While experience in the pet industry is advantageous, it is not mandatory, as the company values a commitment to learning and a strong leadership presence. The position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the facility operates 365 days a year, offering consistent service to clients and their pets.

Compensation for the General Manager role at Yardstick includes a target annual salary of approximately $65,000, complemented by performance-based bonus incentives. The company also offers medical, dental, and vision insurance along with paid time off, supporting the health and well-being of its employees. Yardstick represents a rewarding career opportunity for someone eager to make a meaningful impact in the pet hospitality industry while leading a team at a renowned and growing dog hotel in Dallas, TX.
