The General Manager role at Catbird Rooftop is a key leadership position that combines entrepreneurial vision with hands-on operational management. This individual is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of guest experiences that meet and exceed the brand's sophisticated standards. Reporting directly to the Director of Restaurant, Bars, and Events, the General Manager will lead all facets of business operations, from service execution and staff development to financial management and creative marketing initiatives. This position demands a blend of strategic thinking and day-to-day operational vigilance to maximize both guest satisfaction and financial performance. Operationally, the General Manager oversees all daily activities with a proactive and visible leadership presence. This includes maintaining expert knowledge of menu offerings, beverage selections, and compliance requirements while collaborating closely with culinary leadership to ensure an elevated dining experience. The role involves anticipation and management of high-volume service periods by adjusting staffing and pacing accordingly.

A core responsibility is enhancing the guest experience by fostering a culture of warmth, personalization, and active guest engagement. This leader will oversee the reservation system and table management to optimize revenue while maintaining an energetic atmosphere aligned with Catbird’s brand. Financial stewardship is essential, requiring rigorous analysis of sales and labor metrics against budgets and forecasts, implementing strategic initiatives to drive revenue growth, and practicing prudent cost control including payroll and tip distribution.

This role also requires strong people leadership skills to recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing hospitality team. The General Manager will conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, lead daily team meetings, and foster a supportive, inclusive, and energetic workplace.
