The role of General Manager at Capital One Arena represents a pivotal leadership position within Aramark Sports + Entertainment. This salaried, bonus-eligible position, with a compensation range between $150,000 and $170,000 annually plus relocation assistance, requires a dynamic individual capable of overseeing a multi-million-dollar operation exceeding $50 million in annual revenue. The General Manager is entrusted with planning, managing, and leading all contracted services to meet stringent operating and financial targets, client expectations, and guest satisfaction standards.
This leadership role demands a strategic minded professional who can enhance the premium dining experience as the arena has recently undergone significant capital improvements to its hospitality spaces. In addition to managing numerous food and beverage outlets including in-seat hawkers, luxury clubs, suites, and catering, the General Manager is also responsible for executing large-scale event operations successfully. This includes ensuring smooth day-to-day operations during major sporting events, concerts, and special functions, fostering client and community relationships, and driving continuous service improvements.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the General Manager leads a team of salaried direct reports and plays a critical role in building, developing, and empowering management and staff aligned with organizational goals. A strong focus on financial acumen, operational productivity, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations is essential. This role also requires a high level of interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff.
Candidates for this role are expected to have meaningful experience within the hospitality, food service, or contract services industries, along with a proven track record of managing large-revenue accounts and leading teams through other managers. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Prior experience managing multi-million dollar revenue operations
- Strong financial acumen and budget management skills
- Excellent leadership and team building abilities
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Commitment to safety and compliance standards
- Flexibility to work extended hours during events
- Physical ability to perform role demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, standing and walking
- Willingness to relocate if necessary
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree level education highly preferred in an area of food service, hospitality, facilities, or business management
- Ability to focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business
- Savvy interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff
- Comfortable reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements, including identifying opportunities within contract terms and conditions to address operational issues
- Meaningful experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
- Proven ability leading through other managers
- Experience in creating and managing a department budget, financial controls and analysis
- Experience crafting product sales strategies and implementing operational programs and initiatives
Job Duties
- Leads a team that provides operational expertise in contracted services while providing hands-on execution management of operations
- Manages the client and community relationships at the location, continually assessing operations, and developing plans to provide optimal service and drive employee and customer satisfaction
- Builds, develops, and leads a management team and staff capable of carrying out organizational objectives
- Recommends methods, resources, and implementation for service improvement and growth based on understanding of operational needs, capabilities, and contractual obligations
- In partnership with Finance, manages a budget and assists in the design of improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity
- Manages compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and codes and maintains all associated records and reports
- Ensures compliance with Aramark's standards of operation including safety standards and Aramark's Business Conduct Policy at all times
