The General Manager role at MV Transportation is a full-time position based in California that plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic management of an assigned transportation contract. The individual in this role is responsible for executing the annual business plan, ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual obligations, and maintaining exceptional service standards. The General Manager leads a team dedicated to the efficient management of transit operations, including vehicle maintenance, safety programs, scheduling, and driver management. This position involves active collaboration with clients to ensure their expectations are met or exceeded, as well as managing labor relations and contributing to contract renewals. Job Requirements

College degree or equivalent business management experience
Minimum of five years of comprehensive experience in operations management
Seven years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment
Knowledge of labor and union negotiations and expenses
Understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and DOT and FTA safety compliance
Proficiency in MS Office
Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask effectively
Experience in transit management
Airport experience preferred

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs
Identify, select, train and mentor location staff
Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members
Oversee vehicle maintenance plan and ensure fleet availability to meet service requirements
Oversee safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract and regulatory requirements
Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations
Conduct periodic departmental audits
Daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics
Ensure that all location financial metrics are managed continuously, exceptions are reported and action plans are developed to ensure the location meets its financial, safety and operational expectations
Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures
Participate in location(s) labor and employee relations activities
Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals
Create and present location(s) annual budget
