The role of General Manager (GM) at Ulta Beauty is a leadership position that carries significant responsibility for managing one of the company's retail stores, including its salon operations. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5+ years retail management or relevant experience
  • Experience in financial management including sales and payroll control
  • Proven retail management skills including inventory and merchandising
  • Leadership experience in team development and change management
  • Proficiency with Point of Sale systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to work flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Availability to close the store at least once per week
  • Willingness to travel for corporate meetings including overnight and interstate travel
  • Must maintain valid identification for travel

  • Proficiency with basic technology such as Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices

Job Duties

  • Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed Ulta Beauty's goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty including credit, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink
  • Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top-line sales growth, and expense control
  • Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets to support with store scheduling needs to maximize productivity, achieve sales and payroll goals, and complete workload on time and within the payroll budget
  • Address any issues identified by Ulta Beauty's financial and operational reporting, store visits, and audit results to achieve store goals and drive profitability
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and guest service experience
  • Take initiative to stay informed regarding new and existing industry trends, products, and services
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance
  • Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent
  • Address policy violations with appropriate corrective action up to and including separation of employment
  • Build a highly engaged team embodying the Ulta Beauty brand
  • Create an inclusive environment inspiring growth and engagement
  • Lead manager and associate development through training, feedback, coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning
  • Participate regularly in ongoing training including brand and category education
  • Model open communication and share enterprise strategy with direct reports
  • Promote teamwork by working alongside management, establishing priorities, and providing clear direction
  • Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to drive business results
  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and standards
  • Enforce Ulta Beauty's dress code
  • Use company scheduling tool to optimize staffing
  • Use task management tool to prioritize store workload
  • Protect company assets and minimize loss through adherence to standards and procedures
  • Execute inventory control processes and theft reporting
  • Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology
