The role of General Manager at Aramark is a dynamic and multifaceted leadership position responsible for managing multiple contracted services and ensuring they meet the client’s operational and financial goals. This position typically oversees contracts generating from 2 to 15 million dollars or more in revenue. General Managers lead teams that handle diverse services such as food service, facility support, custodial services, retail operations, lodging, transportation, and more. The role demands a hands-on approach to operations management combined with strategic vision to optimize service delivery and exceed client expectations.

General Managers play a crucial role in building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and the community. They continuously assess operational effectiveness and develop strategic plans to enhance employee and customer satisfaction. A key responsibility is to build, develop, and lead a strong management team that can successfully execute organizational objectives. Financial savvy is essential, as General Managers partner with finance teams to manage budgets, implement financial controls, and devise operational improvements that boost productivity and profitability.

Safety and compliance are paramount in this role. The General Manager ensures all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and maintains all required records and reports. They also enforce Aramark’s rigorous standards of safety, business conduct, and operational excellence at all times. Essential qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in food service, hospitality, facilities management, or business management. A successful General Manager is adept at interpreting contracts to identify operational improvements, crafting and implementing sales strategies, and managing department budgets with precision. Physical demands of the role may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. Additionally, adherence to uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements is expected.

  • savvy interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff
  • comfortable reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements, including identifying opportunities within contract terms and conditions to address operational issues
  • meaningful experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
  • proven ability leading through other managers
  • experience in creating and managing a department budget, financial controls and analysis
  • experience crafting product sales strategies and implementing operational programs and initiatives

Job Duties

  • Leads a team that provides operational expertise in contracted services while providing hands-on execution management of operations
  • manages the client and community relationships at the location, continually assessing operations, and developing plans to provide optimal service and drive employee and customer satisfaction
  • builds, develops, and leads a management team and staff capable of carrying out organizational objectives
  • recommends methods, resources, and implementation for service improvement and growth based on understanding of operational needs, capabilities, & contractual obligations
  • in partnership with finance, manages a budget and assists in the design of improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity
  • manages compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and codes and maintains all associated records and reports
  • ensures compliance with Aramark's standards of operation including safety standards and Aramark's Business Conduct Policy at all times
