The General Manager role at Chipotle offers an exciting leadership opportunity within a fast-paced, rapidly expanding restaurant environment. As Chipotle is opening a new restaurant almost daily, it requires innovative and driven leaders to manage these establishments effectively. The General Manager is pivotal to the success of each location, charged with hiring and developing outstanding team members, cultivating a winning culture, and running day-to-day operations to achieve the restaurant's financial and guest experience goals.
This position offers comprehensive responsibility for the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, development, and performance management of crew members, shift leaders, and apprentices. The General Manager ensures that the restaurant maintains high standards of hospitality, food safety, and operational excellence. They are accountable for managing schedules, controlling profits and losses, sales forecasting, and implementing marketing initiatives such as local fundraisers and community engagement activities.
Working with a strong focus on guest satisfaction, General Managers lead by example, upholding Chipotle’s core values while delivering a guest-obsessed experience. The role requires availability during all shifts, including lunch, dinner, and weekends, to provide hands-on leadership at all operational hours. This position demands physical stamina to work on the restaurant floor for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.

Job Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for 10 hours a day
- Ability to lift 50 lbs (25 kgs)
- Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong communication skills with team members and customers
- Availability to work lunch, dinner, and weekend shifts
- Commitment to upholding food safety, operational, and compliance standards
Job Qualifications
- Previous restaurant management experience including scheduling, P&L management, food safety, sales forecasting, and recruiting
- A guest obsessed passion for hospitality
- Friendly and enthusiastic attitude
- Genuine enthusiasm for people development and leading others
- A creative approach to marketing and driving sales (fundraisers, community engagement, etc.)
Job Duties
- Be guest obsessed - uphold top-notch standards of excellence and hospitality
- Ensure speed of service, accuracy, and positive guest obsessed experience
- Be responsible for the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment and hiring, people processes and performance management
- Train and develop crew members, shift leaders, and apprentices, utilizing Chipotle's training tools and resources
- Direct our team members to deliver accurate and on-time digital orders
- Be accountable for the day-to-day operational business of your restaurant (creating and managing a schedule, P&L control and management, sales forecasting, recruiting and interviewing)
- Ensure the dining room remains clean and the restaurant is always guest-ready
- Uphold food safety, operational, and compliance standards
- Be accountable for overall financial success of the restaurant, achieving annual sales & cash flow plan
- Work a schedule that includes lunch, dinner, and weekend shifts to provide leadership across all hours of operation
