The General Manager (GM) position at Ulta Beauty is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving the success of a single retail store, inclusive of the salon. Job Requirements
- Work a flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be available to close the store at least once per week
- Attend corporate business meetings and conferences, including overnight stays and interstate travel
- Maintain valid identification for airline travel
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance
- Be knowledgeable and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Enforce dress code and maintain store standards
- Capable of frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 25 lbs

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- 3-5+ years of fast-paced retail management or relevant work experience
- Experience driving top-line sales, interpreting reporting data, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses
- Proven ability to monitor inventory levels, achieve operational excellence, drive service culture, and execute merchandising directives
- Skilled in attracting, developing, and motivating top talent
- Ability to lead and influence teams and adapt swiftly to change
- Proficient with Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office, and Apple devices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible and adaptable
Job Duties
- Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink goals
- Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top-line sales growth, and expense control
- Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling and maximize productivity
- Address issues identified in financial and operational reports, store visits, and audits
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to engage guests and drive sales
- Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team, addressing staffing needs efficiently
- Build a highly engaged team through effective communication, training, coaching, and performance reviews
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards including loss prevention and workplace safety
- Utilize scheduling and task management tools to optimize store operations
- Protect company assets and minimize loss through adherence to inventory control and cash management procedures
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology
- Provide feedback to field leadership on business trends, operational challenges, merchandise needs, and competition
- Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program through business ownership and associate coaching
- Model open communication and promote a culture of teamwork by working alongside management
- Enforce Ulta Beauty’s dress code and maintain high standards of appearance
- Maintain prompt attendance and hold team accountable to attendance policies
- Regularly participate in ongoing training and ensure direct reports do the same to enable continuous professional development and drive sales performance
