Job Description
City Express By Marriott Minneapolis is an independently owned and operated select-service hotel franchise managed by S&S Enterprises. Established to provide quality accommodations with exceptional guest service, this property is renowned for its commitment to maintaining Marriott brand standards while delivering a welcoming and efficient experience to all travelers. The hotel stands out for its convenient location at 814 American Blvd E in Minneapolis, Minnesota, making it a preferred choice for both business and leisure guests visiting the area. With a focus on operational excellence and guest satisfaction, City Express By Marriott Minneapolis aims to balance high standards of hospitality with a productive work environment under the leadership of an experienced management team.
The position available is for a General Manager who will take full responsibility for the overall leadership, daily operations, financial performance, and guest experience at the hotel. This is a full-time management role offering a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $95,000 annually. The General Manager serves as the principal driver for ensuring that every department—from Front Office and Housekeeping to Maintenance and Food & Beverage—runs efficiently and in compliance with Marriott brand requirements. Tasked with inspiring the team culture, the GM leads the management team in delivering operational excellence, maintaining property standards, and enhancing profitability.
As the key representative of the hotel, the General Manager oversees staffing, training, and performance management, fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture. They ensure that the physical property is impeccably maintained and operates safely and compliantly by conducting regular walkthroughs, inspections, and maintaining close adherence to health and safety regulations. From a financial perspective, the General Manager manages budgets, profit and loss statements, labor costs, and expense controls, making strategic decisions focused on increasing revenue and controlling expenses.
A critical part of the role includes executing dynamic revenue strategies, maximizing occupancy rates, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) through proactive market analysis and pricing adjustments. The GM collaborates closely with revenue management teams, sales partners, and external stakeholders to reach financial goals. Equally important is the dedication to guest satisfaction, where the GM ensures quality service standards are met across all guest touchpoints, monitors guest feedback platforms, resolves concerns promptly, and leads initiatives to enhance customer loyalty.
Technology use and compliance figure prominently, with the GM ensuring staff are proficient in hotel systems and that operational tools are used consistently to support daily functions and reporting needs. Additionally, the General Manager upholds all regulatory compliance requirements and prepares the property for brand quality assurance audits and other inspections.
Success as a General Manager at City Express By Marriott Minneapolis demands robust leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of hotel management, excellent financial acumen, and outstanding communication skills. The GM must cultivate and sustain a high-performing team environment while balancing multiple operational priorities with high accountability. They must also demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as the needs of the hotel dictate.
Ideal candidates will bring at least five years of hotel management experience, including two years in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager role, preferably within Marriott-branded select-service hotels or similar. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field, backed by proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and operational oversight across multiple departments. A commitment to guest service excellence and the ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve high standards aligned with Marriott brand values are essential for success in this role.
Joining City Express By Marriott Minneapolis offers the opportunity to lead a vibrant hotel property with a strong brand affiliation, robust financial incentives, and a supportive work environment dedicated to professional growth and guest satisfaction. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the hotel while representing S&S Enterprises’ commitment to outstanding hospitality.
