Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant hotel management experience
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in hotel or related field
  • or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years related experience
  • or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all employee levels and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify employee and guest concerns
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions according to Highgate Hotel standards
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with all department managers and supervisors
  • Ensure all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency and corporate sponsored training
  • Conduct daily HHBR meetings focusing on prospecting and business results with the Director of Sales
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including client meetings and hosting events
  • Participate in scheduled M.O.D. coverage
  • Maintain direct contact and monitor management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate policies and train managers to ensure compliance
  • Oversee and assist in the budget process
  • Ensure training in service standards across all departments
  • Create a positive team-oriented guest-focused environment
  • Inspect rooms regularly with housekeeping and engineering managers
  • Ensure processing of invoices daily
  • Submit monthly financial documents in compliance with the accounting calendar
  • Maintain cleanliness and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, and courteous at all times
  • Forecast monthly financial position with accurate revenue and expense estimates
  • Conduct management interviews and ensure hiring standards
  • Perform Executive Committee members' performance appraisals and ensure compliance
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees
  • Meet with clients and potential clients to support sales efforts
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests
  • Ensure hotel safe handling and security procedures
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and participate in credit and collection policies
  • Complete required corporate training modules and certifications
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings occur on property
