Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years progressive hotel management experience
- Previous experience in luxury hotel management
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in financial management and budgeting
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Job Qualifications
- At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years of related experience or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years of related experience
- Previous luxury hotel experience required
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
- Ability to listen understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Approach all encounters courteously and with service orientation
- Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with standards
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
- Comply with standards and regulations to support safe and efficient operations
- Effective problem handling skills including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Light work capability involving exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
Job Duties
- Tour the operating departments daily making adjustments as needed via department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings including weekly training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate programs in a timely fashion
- Hold monthly financial review with department managers M.I.D.s and supervisors
- Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and accounting procedures
- Develop managers for future advancement through competency and corporate training
- Conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
- Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including calling on top accounts meeting clients hosting events
- Participate in required M.O.D. coverage
- Maintain direct contact with and monitor the development of management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies training new managers to ensure compliance
- Oversee and assist in budget process as required
- Ensure training in service standards in each department including compliance with Highgate Hotel Garden Standard
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest through employee development
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using the A/P process
- Ensure financial documents are submitted monthly in compliance with accounting calendar
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance
- Ensure employees are attentive friendly courteous and efficient with guests and colleagues
- Forecast monthly financial position estimating revenues and expenses generating accurate reforecast
- Prepare and conduct management interviews following Highgate standards ensuring compliance
- Interview all prospective final candidates for management positions before offers
- Perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals and ensure managerial compliance
- Motivate coach counsel and discipline management personnel as per standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
- Ensure all employees receive fair and equitable treatment
- Meet clients on property assisting in sales efforts
- Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
- Ensure hotel safe handling procedures and monthly audits are followed
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and actively involve in credit and collection policies
- Complete required corporate training modules becoming certified trainer as required
- Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
