The General Manager I position at HMSHost plays a critical role in ensuring the success of one or several quick-service restaurant locations with sales generally up to $5 million. This role demands a leader who can maintain high operational and financial standards while managing day-to-day restaurant activities. The General Manager oversees opening and closing procedures, staff deployment, product availability, equipment maintenance, brand compliance, marketing initiatives, and safety protocols.
This position requires strong leadership abilities to build and maintain a motivated and engaged team, ensuring all associates understand their roles and responsibilities. The General Manager is responsible for hiring, coaching, and performance management to foster an environment where employees thrive and business goals are achieved. This role also involves handling vendor relations, managing inventory, and overseeing financial reports to keep the restaurant profitable.
Because the General Manager I is pivotal to the restaurant’s success, they must possess exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions that balance customer satisfaction with operational efficiency. The position typically reports to a Director of Operations or area leader and requires a flexible schedule that includes opening, peak, and closing shifts to directly supervise associates across various operating hours.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years documented restaurant P&L management experience
- Total of 5 to 7 years in relevant restaurant operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and policy documents
- Flexibility to work varied and rotating schedules including opening, peak, and closing shifts
