Job Description

Alpha Baking Company, Inc. is a leading national distributor and producer of a wide range of baked goods, including breads, rolls, buns, and sweet goods. Established in 1979 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Alpha Baking has grown significantly over the past four decades to become a trusted name in the baking industry. The company operates multiple production plants strategically located across the Midwest, including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin, allowing it to efficiently meet the demands of both retail and foodservice customers. Alpha Baking is known for its popular retail brands such as S. Rosen's, MaryAnn, Natural Ovens Bakery, Kreamo, and Golden Hearth. In addition to these in-house brands, the company offers products under private label agreements and the Alpha Baking foodservice brand, catering to a diverse customer base that spans national restaurant chains, quick-service restaurants, schools, institutions, sports franchises, and both national and independent grocery stores.

The position offered is part of Alpha Baking's production team, specifically for the 2nd shift operations. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of quality, productivity, and safety that Alpha Baking prides itself on. The 2nd shift runs from Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays possible. The production shift hours are from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and packaging shift hours are from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, although end times may vary based on production needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks such as panning and racking dough, moving racks to proof boxes, assisting with product tracking, bagging and labeling product accurately, and performing pan dumping without damaging the product.

This role requires a keen attention to detail, adherence to strict safety and food safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints. The ideal candidate should be prepared to engage in physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds repeatedly and pushing or pulling equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to high ambient temperatures and the need to stand for the majority of the shift.

Additionally, the role involves collaborating with other departments, participating in plant audits and inspection preparations, and performing other duties as assigned. Alpha Baking values employees who demonstrate a strong work ethic, team spirit, and a commitment to maintaining the company’s reputation for quality and safety.

Alpha Baking Company, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and embraces diversity in the workplace.
