Job Description

Currently, Creative Dining Services is seeking a dedicated General Food Service Worker for their service location at Knoxville Catholic in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of their food service environment, handling a variety of duties that contribute to an exceptional dining experience. The work hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, making it an ideal position for individuals seeking consistent daytime employment. The role focuses on helping with food preparation, service, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the food service area.

As a General Food Service Worker, the individual will be responsible for setting up the food service area, including the kitchen and salad stations, ensuring all equipment and utensils are ready and sanitized for daily operations. Duties include preparing or assisting in the preparation of both hot and cold meals and beverages, serving food to customers according to specific instructions while maintaining appropriate portion control, and replenishing supplies such as silverware, glassware, dishes, trays, and condiments as required. Moreover, the role demands meticulous attention to sanitation and safety as the worker will be expected to clean and maintain work areas, wash pots and pans, and properly handle trash and waste. This multi-faceted role not only involves direct food service but also includes essential behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the food service operation efficient, clean, and guest-friendly.

The position requires a team-oriented, responsible individual who can perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Sets up food service, kitchen, or salad area facilities, equipment and utensils under detailed instruction
  • checks food temperatures and prepares areas for daily operations
  • may operate cooking or bakery equipment as assigned
  • prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meals and beverages
  • serves food items to customers from counters and steam tables ensuring appropriate portions
  • replenishes foods, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays at serving stations
  • may order and replenish condiments
  • cleans and maintains work areas including floors, facilities, dishes, utensils, and equipment
  • collects and disposes of garbage and trash
  • washes pots, pans, and other serviceware ensuring sanitary handling
  • organizes and replaces serviceware to appropriate locations
  • performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
