Currently, Creative Dining Services is seeking both part-time and full-time General Food Service Workers to join their team at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, IN. This role offers a variety of AM and PM shifts, providing flexibility for candidates with different scheduling needs. The General Food Service Worker plays a pivotal role in supporting food preparation and service operations across various food service environments within the university. This position entails performing a wide range of duties that contribute to the smooth and efficient delivery of food and beverages, ensuring an excellent dining experience for customers.
In this role, the General Food Service Worker will be responsible for setting up food service areas, including kitchen and salad stations, prepping equipment and utensils, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the work environment. The position may also involve operating cooking or bakery equipment under supervision, assisting in the preparation of hot and cold meals, and serving food and beverages to customers with attention to portion control and presentation. Additionally, the worker might handle cashiering duties as needed and ensure proper collection and disposal of garbage and trash to maintain sanitary conditions.
Attention to detail and adherence to food safety standards are essential in this role. The General Food Service Worker contributes to maintaining high hygiene standards by washing pots, pans, dishes, and utensils, ensuring a sanitary and orderly service area. Job Duties
- Sets up food service kitchen or salad area facilities equipment and utensils under detailed instruction in accordance with specific area needs
- checks food temperatures and/or prepares areas for daily operations
- may operate cooking or bakery equipment as assigned
- prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meals and beverages
- serves food items to customers from counters and/or steam tables in accordance with specific instructions ensuring that appropriate portions are served
- replenishes foods silverware glassware dishes and trays at serving stations
- may order and replenish condiments
- cleans and maintains work areas including floors facilities dishes utensils and equipment
- collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operation
- washes pots pans and other serviceware ensuring sanitary handling
- organizes and replaces serviceware to appropriate location
- performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
